The American Landing Craft Personnel (LCP) was 10 tons. The British Landing Craft Assault (LCA) was 13 tons. They both carried around 36 full equipped soldiers. The LCA had a loading ramp, LCP didn't. Landing Craft Mechanised (LCM) were 36 tons and could carry 100 troops. Landing Craft Infantry (LCI) could carry 200 troops and travel reasonable distances in moderate seas. Then there were the "ship" landing craft (LCT), in which the bow opened onto the beach, after being sailed up up to the waterline. These displaced 3,000 tons. Britain also built LST's which were the same size as light cruisers and had proper funnels ect, they displaced around 5,000 tons. The British used LSI's to transport the landing craft which could range from 3,000 ton carrying 800 troops to 7,000 ton carrying 1,800 troops(20 landing craft). They mounted 12 pounder, 12 cwt naval guns and AA weaponry such as the 20mm Oerlikon.
