I will be upgrading my system again in the near future and have always been an ATI guy but the new 7900 GTX seems to be beating the Radeon in the latest benchmarks. So I thought I would ask you guys for your humble opinions. Which shale I go with?
I would say the 7900 but I'm a nvidia owner myself so choose wich you want
I have no idea, but I heard Nividia is BF2 friendly...or whatever so i would get the 7900GTX.
I switched form ATI to Nvidia....... I will never buy ATI again.
Nvidia! ATI cards and BF2 just dont mix. It's a conspiracy.
A single X1900XT (don't waste your money on the XTX, totally not worth it) is faster than a 7900GTX. On the other hand, nVidia's SLI performs better with the second card, and is easier to setup than Crossfire.
Bottom line: Single card: X1900XT, Dual card: 7900GTX

Make up your own mind. Here's some benchmarks from AnandTech:

Thanks Deject for the link. This is some good information.
7900gtx
2nd that?TRODPINT wrote:

NVIDIA ownz ATI
ATI drivers are much buggier than NVidia's. Also, BF2 does not like ATI. It will tell the ATI card to draw retarded triangles.
7900
If you ever get another $600 to spend, you can buy another and run SLI!

Same here.. Im going to be upgrading to a 7900GTX soonTRODPINT wrote:

A-tothe-T-tothe-I FTW dudes!
The nVidia 7900GTX Extreme 512MB out-performs any 1900, whether it be XT or XTX.
I am the same way i will never go back to ATI again, Nvidia 7800gtx rocks, so the 7900gtx should do the same.TRODPINT wrote:

Well i own a 7900GTX and it kicks some serious ass, i have an XFX (650mhz clock speed) one i think but i oc'ed it to 690mhz, go nvidia ati's drivers are for teh losex0r, Nvidia over ATi anyday
whichever is cheaper, they are both the highest end cards
u guys sound bias lol, well i have a x1900xtx and it works great. but for the price i think the 7900gt or the 7800 gt will do for you. also i thought ea said ati /nvidia no difference with bf2.
what about the shadows... there were a lot of shadow bugs w/ ati cardsMaj.Do wrote:

get the 7900gt since its like the 7800gtx but cheaper
wasnt that for sf only though? and i wouldnt really base my order on just a shadow bug though : \
well im not sure if the new ATI drivers fixed that, but imho its more of a personal preferance for most ppl. and as an nvidia user i say the 1900xtx pwns the 7900gtx. but i would get the 1900xt since its a cheaper and more bang for the buck...Maj.Do wrote:

I have never really liked nVidea. ATI cards always seem to run better for me. And I have a friend who will shoot you in the face if you talk of putting a nVidea card in your PC.
I've not had any graphical issues with my X800XT AIW. As for those that say ATi has crappy drivers, they are just trying to live in the Rage days. At this point in time I will take ATi drivers over that shit nvidia calls drivers any day.
The only time I will give nVidia drivers the thumbs up is if you are a Linux user.
