Yeah, the double standard is pretty disturbing.
Then again, it might be an overexposure thing. A lot of people are tired of hearing about Islamic terror, so the media would rather focus on a less common problem -- anti-abortion terrorism.
Yeah, that would be a bit more refreshing than the idea of a political bias in the news industry, and since
they were shocked and upset more by the abortion doctor's murder, they concentrated more on that. After all, people are so tired of hearing about a left-leaning bias in the media.
It's not a conspiracy, imortal, but you're free to continue believing in that.
I never said it was a conspiracy. But it is not a secret that a vast majority of the news and media industry are leftward leaning. A lot of that has to do with the grand early 70s, when Watergate was broken by a pair of newspaper journalists and was seen to bring down a president. That kind of 'power to the people' message was a big inspiration to some of the people who had been riding the college system and provided a focus for them. So, a lot of the people who enjoyed Nixons takedown (and being Republican, and his involvement in Vietnam, there is little doubt who these people would be) went into journalism.
Nowadays, those folks who went into jounalism for political reasons (and reasons of power) back then have been in the business long enough to be the decision makers. Editors-in-chief, managers, whatever. With the modern news schedule and formats, sometimes decisions need to be made as to what to put on the air (or in print), and what kind of angle to take, and what story just doesn't make the cut. These people would tend to make decisions in line with their beliefs. Since their beliefs are generally and the left side of the balance, so goes the media coverage.
I never said there was a conspiracy to control the news (that come from Marxism claiming that to control the population, you need only control the nations education system and media). I do not think there is some kind of media cabal trying to control coverage. It is just what tends to happen a lot of the time. Also, the fun part is that when the news and the slant falls into your own line of beliefs, it goes by unnoticed; this is why those on the right are breathing fire about CNN, MSNBC, and all of the network news (and most of the old newspapers), while the left screams about FOXNews, since that breaks their comfort zone.
