I'd probably go with the IRA too, but it's hard to say, from what I've seen most of the IRA were quite well trained but that might be true of the Taliban aswell, I don't know.

I go with the Ra cause I've seen what they're like.

IRA are more diciplined and I think that would give them the edge. Thing is as AusReaper pointed out both sides use Guerrilla tactics. The Taliban especially attack obvious targets; roadblocks, large groups of people, buildings - just attacking anything that's going to cause a reaction. This stuff wouldn't phase the IRA at all as it wouldn't be an attack on the IRA itself; the Taliban wouldn't get a reaction.

It would be a complete stalemate. Taliban wouldn't be able to phase the IRA and if the IRA did any damage to the Taliban it would have the same reaction is has had with conventional warfare - kill one, three more take their place.

Take two evenly armed and numbered armies from each, stick 'em in an area and get the to fight IRA would win thanks to their dicipline. Put them against each other with everything they have in conventional warfare Taliban would win due to far superior numbers. Put them against each other in a way identicle to how they operate today, no-one would win.

Interesting thought though, I'd be keen to catch the show if it airs here.

I guess the Taliban are more willing to die, the IRA fight with their head a bit more though so I would tip them to win.

IRA has reg and aim, Talibs have numbers so the outcome is very impredictable. I think on a 16 Kark 5vs5 IRA would win but on a 64 map Talibs might have better chances as they are familiar with hills and deadzones.

I'd go for IRA personally. From what I've seen of the Taliban (very little), they tend to pray and spray, and I imagine the IRA to be a bit more disciplined with their shooting. In terms of bombing and shit, I have no idea.
