im getting strange black mountains, depending on which direction im looking these "shadows" keep flickering on and off, bloody annoying. i have a radeon 9250 and using the catalyst drivers and ive never been able to use 8x AGP, only 4x AGP.

I appreciate any help thanks.

This is an issue with ATI cards.  I had the same issue, and since I got Nvdia, I do not have this issue.  Also, the 9250 is one of the cards that is questionable.  EA does not support the PCI version of this card, but does support of the PCI-E or AGP version.  Basically the issue comes from how the ATI card renders the images.

I have a NVidea 6800 LE card, and I get these black patches on the mountains as well. So, it cannot be a problem of the ATI cards, I think.

that is what started to happen to me when my 9800pro started to fail... shortly after getting the mountains i would get random black screens and then the gpu would reset

wow interesting stuff thanks everyone. ive tried everything you all said except buying a new card. all i can say is ati is crap anyway, the control panel takes 3 minutes to open and ive never been able to use 8xAGP on bf2 using this card or any drivers.

Realize the Radeon 9250 is not a *uptodate* GPU. Dont blame it to ATI (and I cant stand ATI-Cards at all).
It will be intressting which system you use?! CPU, RAM, MoBo blah blah.

The AGP issues sounds like your MoBo doesnt support 8x... Althought, buy a new GPU! Come on a 9250, wtf?!

Enshure you always use the newest drivers!!!

The 6800LE is a bunch of (banned word), even a FX5900 is faster...

lol! yeah i know it is crap card but people were drooling over it not too long ago.

CPU is AMD sempron 1600~2400

1gb of ram

mobo is MSI K2N DELTA

Only bf2 has caused problems. i will upgrade the GPU for sure.

if others are getting this problem it could be bf2 itself. who knows.

Puh a sempron 1.6 and only a radeon 9250... But you´re able to play BF2 arent you?! No Offence. I think you shoul buy a new CPU and GPU as fast as possible. I´ll suggest a AMD64 3200-3700+ and a Nvidia GF 6600GT 256MB at least. Its not the newest shit on the shelf but atm these components are pretty cheap...

BTW: I got graphicissues (blackmountainside) even with my 7800GTX

I used to get this with my 6600 (non-gt), updated drivers to 84.21 and it doesn't happen anymore. Well - for me at least.

yea i do tend to sqeeze every bit out of a system before i dig in my pocket. if its playable thats all i care about.

i got rid of these black mountains by installing the 6.2 catalyst drivers (not the latest 6.3) and setting agp to 4XAGP and setting AGP write textures directly to computer memory switched off. what i dont understand is if this card is not compatible with bf2 why does it work for me.

and yea im able to play no problem until this. it doesnt look as sweet as some screenshots ive seen here but like i say as long as the frame rate is playable im happy.
