atm im running a 4850, E7(200?) on 1gb shite ram and a P31. Case is smashed to fuck.

Summer work coming up, i'm wondering whats the best thing to do?

I was thinking cooler for OC, maybe another 4850 and 4gb ram. prob need a new mobo on that. Budget is max £450, but i can't say i'll definate go through with any of it. depends how work goes.

If your on Vista definitely 4GB RAM...
Whats your exact motherboard?
A cooler is a good, cheap way to squeeze some performance out (but you would probably want a base with decent circulation as well)

ditch the extra 4850 and get a good overclocking mobo.

if you have more money after that, get a P182

on XP

i dont give a damn how my case performs etc - it sits in a corner humming. sleek is preferable.

as far as gaming goes, EVE atm is the highlight. hence i was thinking two 4850s (ables to handles most with reasonable graphics)

that always changes though ted, and with a new gen of cards on the way, may as well wait for them.... god knows its what I'm doing... even though a 4870 seems great for the price right now...

If the case has bad (inherent) air flow you'll still struggle to OC even with a good cooler.

no need for another 4850.  you're running at 1680x1050 i assume?

i would add RAM and get a new case.

if your budget allows after the above:
dunno how well the E7200 overclocks but you may want to get a F7P or something along with the rest of the stuff to OC it a bit.  a better motherboard would help as well.

Since you're on XP, Pull out the shitty 1GB RAM (I'm just taking your word for it that it's shitty) and put in a 2x1GB set. In fact, you might find it acceptable to go with 2x2GB for the same price, in case you don't mind it only counting as 3GB, or upgrade to Windows 7 later.

Oh, and if your case is mashed up enough to where it's putting pressure on any internal components, replace it. $20 usually does it in a pinch here in the States.

It's probably not going to max your budget, but just think: that money could buy more months of EVE, or even a better computer down the road.

Or an organ transplant.

What is your PSU?

In this order:

1. 4GB ram
2. f7p
3. mobo
4. new gfx card. one of the upcoming dx11 cards when u afford one.

New case when you can afford one.

You're pretty much describing what is essentially a new build.

Upgrading in a long run is pretty much making new build. just in steps your wallet can afford

Assuming you have a 512MB version.
