how do these 2 work? ive got some Logitech USB headphones and mic and also a Sound Blaster Audiogy 2 ZS. can i turn off the on board sound and run my USB head phones off my sound blaster?
wait wait u have onboard sound right? well i believe u can turn it off in bios by pushing f2 at boot.
yea i got it off in the BIOS im just wondering if these headphones are pulling sound off my sound card or not
they shouldnt i believe. mine doesnt .
A USB headphone will not use your Sound Card's abilities. They usually either use their own decoder hardware if your USB headphones have that inline on the wire or they will use the onboard motherboard hardware. You do not want to use a USB headphone with your Soundcard. I suggest you invest in inline headphones with actual stereo headphone plugs. USB headphones are usually reserved for LAN parties where a soundcard might not exist.

USB desktop microphones on the other hand, are the proverbial "bomb".
so should i get new head phones because i can hear like everything with these. i will keep them untill they break
If you use the USB Headset, you don't need the Audigy or the onboard sound for it to work. The USB headset has builtin sound.
IMO, if you like the headset, just use it. Why buy something else? If, on the other hand, you don't think you are getting good positional sound with it, then you should look for either a better USB headset or a good set that can be plugged into the Audigy (or one that can do both like the Sennheiser PC155).

over the last year, 3 USB headsets have died on me, which sparked me to go buy an X-Fi and a 'normal' headset
i like these, so if they break like people say they do, i will switch then
Some of the USB headsets are a bit flimsy. I had a Plantronics DSP500, and it lasted me about 9 months. Just broke on me the other day, as a matter of fact:

It was a great headset until it broke.
Since I don't have the money to shell out to buy both a decent sound card and a new decent headset, I decided to just try a Sennheiser.
