Lower resolution, raise the refresh rate, and turn off vsync(if it's on)

THIS SHOULD ANSWER YOUR QUESTION

Video.con

VideoSettings.setResolution 1280x960@75Hz

This setting controls your current resolution in Battlefield 2. The format is Width x Height@Refresh Rate. If you cannot start up BF2 and change the resolution from within the game, try altering it here to help you startup the game. In particular when you want to launch BF2 for the first time and the game just crashes back to desktop (See Troubleshooting Tips section), you can change the resolution from its default of 800x600@60Hz to one your monitor supports. Note however that certain resolutions are unsupported and entering them here will not work - see the Command Line section further below.

VideoSettings.setTerrainQuality 4

VideoSettings.setGeometryQuality 4

VideoSettings.setLightingQuality 4

VideoSettings.setDynamicLightingQuality 4

VideoSettings.setDynamicShadowsQuality 4

VideoSettings.setEffectsQuality 4

VideoSettings.setTextureQuality 4

VideoSettings.setTextureFilteringQuality 4

All of the above settings can be adjusted from within the in-game Video settings. However the highest they can be set to is High from within the game (a value of 3). By setting them each to 4 in Video.con (as shown above), you will have them displayed as 'Videosettings_Ultrahigh' in the in-game Video settings screen, and some people believe this increases the graphics quality to Ultrahigh levels. I didn't see any impact from this change, but if you want the absolute best quality in BF2 give it a try.

I can fix it if you send me your computer!

Just don't expect it back anytime soon!

Yeah I called your machine a piece of junk b/c you kept asking about every little thing, then made a drastic change and purchased what you have now.  Totally different than anything you were talking about and against alot of our suggestions.

Not Junk but a waste IMHO...

Read this article and do some of your own work for a change.

http://www.tweakguides.com/BF2_1.html

If you just want the answer, edit your video.con file using notepad and save it, or simply change the settinging in game.

I suggest the following:

VideoSettings.setTerrainQuality 3
VideoSettings.setGeometryQuality 4
VideoSettings.setLightingQuality 2
VideoSettings.setDynamicLightingQuality 1
VideoSettings.setDynamicShadowsQuality 1
VideoSettings.setEffectsQuality 1
VideoSettings.setTextureQuality 3
VideoSettings.setTextureFilteringQuality 3

start there and play the game

Enter the console by pressing ~

type the following

renderer.drawFPS 1

as long as your frame rate doesn't drop below 40 during battles your doing good.

Your probably getting lag at times b/c you didn't go with the raptor drive as suggested.
Also corsair phhhh, should have went with the patriot or OCZ again as suggested. (wouldn't have had your issues with ram timing)

Most of your current issues are b/c of the dynamic effects.

Just read the tweak article....

look dude, my dad brought this home as a suprise and it is a very nice computer and WAY over what i had. it might not be state of the art or the pieces you would personally get but it is nice. and what was i looking for different anyways? i wanted a dual core amd, 2gb ram, 7800 GT. so im not sure what exactly your talking about.. you just thought it was best for me to wait, but i was having problems with my old 9700pro and i DIDNT want to spend money on another AGP card, now that would have been a waste. i didnt get the BEST parts in the world now because i will update soon when better stuff comes out. but i can use the ram, power supply, video card and i think a 4200 AMDx2 is fast enough for a year or so. where is the weak link that makes you think my system is "a waste". im aware you dont like corsair but there are some who do

and the about doing work on your own. im here to learn just like everyone else, but please tell me what is wrong with my system? im sorry i used your time and then decided to go a different way, im sure im not the only one that has done this. and i dont see it as a waste because 6 months after the new stuff comes out, i will most likey buy it to and give this to my brother who has a 2.8P4 and needs a upgrade soon, since i do the most gaming he usually takes my old system. i just wanted to be able to play now on a more than capable system  then save for more cars

once again thank you for your time and ive learned alot from you and your knowledge, hopefully there are no hard feelings

i believe you also said this

"Considering your thinking about upgrading your 3G-P4 your going through computers faster than underwear."

so what makes you think i wont get something else soon? probally by christmas i will be doing a few changes.... and if you think i go through computers fast you should see what i do with cars

just tested it with 1280x1024@75hz
all ultra high but the Dynamics like VJS recommended.

standing still in a 30+ ppl Karkland map i hit nearly 120FPS and when running with ppl around its high 80's to ~100FPS, i think thats pretty good. thanks for all yalls help!

What would happen if the Resolution went up to 1600x1200@60Hz?
