Two blocks are connected by a heavy uniform rope with a mass of 4.ookg. an upward force of 200 N is applied as shown. draw three free-body diagrams, one for the 6kg block (top) one for the 4.00 kg rope and one for the 5.00 kg blockk (bottom).
b. what is the acceleration of the system?
C. what is the tension at the top of the rope?
D. what is the tension at the midpoint of the rope?

F=ma

the free body diagrams are easy, but i'm not certain about the rest.

to calc acceleration i added up the weight of the system (15Kg) and divided the force (200N) by it, and got 13.33 m/s^2. i'm not sure if i did this correctly though

for C D they want the force exerted on those points, so for the top of the rope do i add up its weight and the weight at the bottom and multiply by the acceleration?

for d do i use m=7 and acceleration = 13.33?

thanks

pics or gtfo, i needz visualization

  i just did this shit last semester, twas mofuckin hard.

1st question correct, assuming its on a flat surface and gravity doesnt need to be considered...or is that null?

Is it a pulley system?

You should ask Liq about this stuff. I always do, and he delivers.

figured it out. it was easy once i started thinking about gravity.
