Cable companies are coming out with DOCSIS 3.0 service @ 50Mbps

So it seems the marketplace may solve our problem for us depending on price.  But if you can get 2x the speed from your cell phone provider, don't you think someone will make a USB antennae for your computer to connect to a 4G network?

I <3 Capitalism.
I can get 100 now, I have 50. That's not the point. If I had a cap faster speed would only make the cap more apparent. I have no sympathy for cable providers with regards to losing their media share. They sure as hell went after the phone companies with their voip digital phone services.

I must concede to your points, mikkel.

Also, my apologies go out to our Australian friends.  You indeed have caps much lower than ours.
Just head over to Japan.. $20 for no cap and speeds @ 100 down. I believe some of those Scandinavian countries are like that also. Admittedly we've got much larger infrastructure, but you're kidding yourself if you think it cost anywhere near what they charge in the states. Normally I wouldn't care. But this is being distinctly anti-competitive. They are just begging to have more (monopolistic style) regulations.
Well, normally I'd agree with you, but mikkel makes a strong argument.

The internet sucks now

It used to be a great place with endless possibility

Now there are(or was) people being sued for downloading small amounts of music, peoples service being shut down for torrents

Now countries are blocking sites they deem inappropriate, Australia has website blacklists, ISP's are giving companies our IP's,  theyre controlling how much of the internet we can use a month.

The Internet used to be a place for the people, but now the Government is basically telling us what we cant look at and ISP's are telling us how much we can download.

Fuck them. The internet is going to shit. The best thing that's connecting people all over the world and is arguably the best invention ever is being fucked up by greedy ass corporations and over controlling governments.

Also: Do you know why Japan is doing so fucking great with technology? The government doesn't restrict much of anything, and the internet services are cheap and unlimited.

If you look hard and close there is a correlation between average internet speed w/ low cost & restrictions imposed by the government to overall level of technology being created and used (EX: Japan, Australia)

The UK had censorship long before Aus and nobody ranted about it, why is Australia such a special case?

That and laying a fibre optic network is much cheaper for smaller countries. If a small country also has massive population density like Japan or SK, that makes it doubly worth doing as the price/connection ratio is much lower.
Whoa... Can't believe these forums are still kicking.
