So bf2s this story made me think exactly what rights do animals have?
http://www.nj.com/news/ledger/jersey/in … amp;coll=1
Monmouth man charged with abandoning white rabbit
He didn't want it anymore and let it go. So he was charged with a crime and faces a 2 Grand fine. I don't understand how letting an animal free that has no ability to hurt anyone else be a crime considering that he could have eaten it if he wanted to.
So anyway to what extent do animals have rights? Should they be considered our equals or are they just for food and entertainment? Also if a tasty animal like chickens somehow developed the ability to speak and are able to hold a conversation with us; should we still eat them?

He should have eaten it, TBH, would have made a good stew, or would have been nice roasted in portions with a honey/rosemary glaze.

Yes. Particularly with a nice honey mustard sauce.

The reason he deserves the fine is that, the rabbit is domesticated it can't fend for it self in the wild. That rabbits ancestors have been pets for generations it knows little about foraging and staying safe from predators.  I'm sure there was shelter that would gladly take that rabbit and get it adopted.  He could have learned this if he'd made the slightest effort but he took the misinformed way of "oh it's an animal it'll automatically know what to do on its own"

What planet are you from? That is one of the best mixtures out there. If you haven't tried it, you really should.

And, for the record, I had that dish in Germany.

So, then it would have been made food for a real animal.

I've been in Germany 5 times and I have never seen anyone eat a mixture like that. Stay away from Turkish immigrants, they eat everything.

So, then it would have been made food for a real animal.
But if we do this continually then we are practiacally feeding the real animals and then they get lazy then their real pray multiplies like crazy and overpopulates without the predators to thin them out.
Also the other animals way of killing isn't exactly quick or painless.  There are plenty of wild rabbits which are born with a deep fear of predators.  This animal should have been sent to a shelter.

Almost Easter
Gotta have oven roasted ham with a bone in it, with a dipping sauce made of 1/2 cheap yellow mustard and 1/2 honey.

Salty ham and honey mustard sauce for dipping mmmmmmmm

Rabbit tastes great with a decent cook behind it. Not much beats one that's been freshly butchered and stewed with some veggies while on a hunting trip though.

I declare this thread a discussion on how awesome meat is to eat.

Lamb, beef, pork, chicken, buffalo, kangaroo, crocodile, duck, turkey....... *drools*

I don't know it just comes to me. Nobody ever took a stab at that question. What if like 90% of the world food depends on chicken and one day they learn to talk and have conversation as a result of a mad stem cell scientist. Then all of a sudden they start asking for rights and stuff. Then what do we still eat them?

Meats I can eat safely (without suffering with intense abdominal pain afterwards):

Pig, Chicken, Turkey.

Meats I have eaten:

Pig, Chicken, Turkey, Duck, Rabbit, Cow, Deer.

They're all yummy.

Particularly with a honey and mustard dressing.

I've heard that the best tasting rabbits are the ones that have been cuddled and loved their whole lives and fed pet store food, preferably by a small child. You know, nice and tender.
