It's not going to end until they're wracked with desperation for money and toughen the fuck up. I blame the education system for pushing this behavior along.

It was like that at the various college courses I went to in the late 90's and early 00's. Lots of people my age or a bit younger expected to be lead through every complication in their coursework. Most learned to figure it out on their own, but those who didn't always struggled. Schools don't teach people how to take and remember instructions.

I know this is a bit OT, but I'm in school now. I'm just starting back after like 8 years, so I wanted to take just one class to get back into the swing of things.

Well, I'm taking government and I'm probably on track to make a B in the class. We had our first unit test and afterwards, the teacher gives out an assignment for those who had done badly. The catch is, that the alternate assignment can be done by anyone, regardless of your grade, and can take the place of either of the first two tests. The alternate assignment is essentially library research too (and she even said you can get the info from the internet!!).

So, there's this girl that sits behind me that never even tried to take the unit 1 test and always complains about how she's going to fail the class. Yet, she is in the position to do the alt. assignment and get more than 40 points more than I did on the actual TEST, just because the teacher is under pressure to have her students pass (only logical explanation).

I made an 81 on my test and I worked my ass off to get it. The teacher is not a pushover and actually makes everyone learn their shit. But, all of the illiterate pieces of shit just out of high school are getting a free ride. Why do they have to work less and not try as hard and get a better grade than me?

Fuck knows. And, no, I'm not doing the alt. assignment. I work full time and have two children. The project requires like a month of research and I don't have the time. I believe in doing the work and getting what I get.

I haven't seen many people with the attitudes you describe start any higher than on the first step of the ladder, and if that's where you manage, you'll be happy to hear that you have an ocean of alternatives out there. You probably need to reevaluate your screening processes when hiring if this is a big problem for you, as idiots typically aren't very difficult to weed out.
