i have 512ram if i upgrade it will it help make my computer run better with high settings or will it just help the load times im and noob and can anyone tell me which ram i should buy
i believe u can use higher settings and faster load time when its 2 gigs. high settings i think uses like 700 megs of ram
First, tell us what kind of computer you have. Download a utility called CPU-Z from http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php and tell us specifics, unless you already know them.FubarJonny wrote:

But once CPU-Z is open, click on the about tab, click Registers Dump, save the txt file to your desktop, open that, copy the info from there, submit it to a file storage account (like geocities), and place a link to it here. Then open the control panel, go into device manager, expand Display Adaptors, and tell us what's listed underneath.
Otherwise, if you have the info already handy, we need to know what you already have before we can tell you if upgrading is worth it:
Motherboard (brand, model):
CPU (brand, model):
Memory (brand, model, # of modules):
Video (brand, model):
Power Supply Wattage (should be on the side):
In general the ideal memory to have is two identical 512MB DIMMs or two identical 1024MB DIMMs. Very few techs will tell you to use four DIMMs in a dual channel system.

As Cutthroat said, Corsair Value.

2x1GB, $136. Wouldn't recommend XMS for your current system. It'd be a waste. Some people would argue for 2x512MB, but $136 for 2GB is a better deal in my mind. Better the extra memory than resorting to virtual.
