Can someone assassinate that fucking commentator. Argghhhh!!! DIE!!!

Great race!!
I wouldn't say so.

The soft tyres of fucking shit house and them combined with safety cars had way too much of an influence on the result, and the supposed increase in passing just didn't happen.

Also, very impressed by Hamilton - to get 4th from the back of the grid - he didn't just have a great car last season - he is a great driver.

lulz, I was watching "F1 Retro" on ESPN Classic yesterday, which shows F1 from the late 70's/early 80's. The commentator said "And we have a new young driver on the grid today, Brazillian Nelson Piquet!"

I was like, wat. But then I found out that it was Piquet Jr's father, which was kinda cool.

Anyways, I heard Toyota and Renault decided to use KERS for the race, along with Ferrari, McLaren and Heidfeld.

Absolutely fantastic race, what a great start to what is going to be an incredible season

Button remained consistently strong throughout the entire race, from start to finish. Both of Brawn's drivers have been very patient and it has paid off big time.

Trulli's been demoted to 4th because he overtook under the Safety Car, therefore Hamilton gets 3rd now. Both fantastic drives from both of them, seeing as Trulli started from the Pit lane and Hamilton started in 18th with a very poor car by McLaren's standards.

Vettel's been given a ten-place grid penalty for Malaysia next week because of the incident with Kubica. There were some images of him apologising to BMW bosses. Shows what a great character he is in Formula 1.

Fantastic race, worth getting early up to

Cracking race for the start of a new season, watching the replay again now   One thing I have to say - thank god it's back on the BBC, no more bloody advert breaks!

Hamilton was then disqualified so Trulli takes P3.

Nice race, deserved win by Button and Barichello was certainly lucky there.

What's this about Trulli/Hamilton? I just watched the race now, Trulli seemed to have overtaken Hamilton during the Safety Car and now you guys are saying Hamilton was DQ'd for some reason..?

Anyway, awesome race. Dunno what to say about Vettel and Kubica, a rush of blood/adrenaline to the head I'm guessing and they weren't thinking straight, feel sorry for them two but they only have themselves to blame for that.

Good race from Button, when a guy builts a massive lead only for it to be destroyed by the Safety Car, yet still go and win the race, that's when the drivers show their true worth. I dunno what BGP have done, and maybe that's why Honda folded because they spent so much damn money on this beast, but it's a winner that's for sure. Ferrari and McLaren seemed to be in all sorts although Hamilton showed his worth (still gotta find out about the DQ) - BBC aren't saying anything about Hamiltons DQ, so it looks like he's got 3rd.

I still don't like Brawn GP though, only cos they have Virgin as their sponsor and I dislike Virgin/Branson (I'm McLaren through and through with BMW being my second team, Ferrari dead last)

They have it all going for them though

edit: I lmao'd at Vettel after the crash though, that would've been awesome if he managed to get some points with only three wheels, he looked like he was trying to do that

Welcome back F1. That was a brilliant race. It was great to have no adverts: although I would have liked one so that I could stop watching and get a drink without missing the action!! That's all adverts are for

Kubica and Vettel, well, what a rush. I really didn't expect that, it just came out of nowhere. If what above is true about Vettel being penalised, then thats pretty harsh as they both caused the accident. Very very unlucky.

Out of it all, Barrichello caused that first corner accident, came though relatively unscathed, didnt get penalised...and came second! Hamilton had a spectacular drive, starting 18th and finishing 3rd despite what is a slow car by most standards. To me, he really showed his worth today.

I had to laugh at Massa when the safety car waved him through, and just shrugged Ditto for Vettel with his left tyre after his accident

I still ask: what the hell has happened to Murray Walker? I thought he was supposed to be in on F1 this year???

Tbh, I support all British drivers, and the team they are with. Ive always been a Hamilton and Button fan anyway, but also Barrichello from his Ferrari days. Big congrats to Brawn, on a 1-2 qualifying and a 1-2 finish considering they almost never even made it to this year. Im not fussed about Branson/Virgin - at least its not some Russian oil baron

TBH Rosberg had the best race and deserved much higher then seventh.
Vetel should have yielded he was behind with a slower car and off the racing line. Kubica could have given him more room, but then he would have been off the racing line in the marble with no grip. IMO 80% Vetels fault.

Who ever this new commentator is needs to be fired asap, every single time he said any word starting with 'B' (and there was a lot of them) I wonted to throw something at the TV and rip my head off.

Having to use both compounds of tyre is fucking stupid imo, it's pathetic that races can be decided by when you have to choose to purposely go slower.

Also I don't know why people are saying it was a good race. Sure there was some new names and teams at the front and some drama with saftey cars, but there was no real 'racing', it was just more of the past decade of cars following cars and 'passing' in the pits. Hamilton is a great example of this, he started 18th and finished 3rd but how many people did he actually pass? He made few at the start, Glock when he spun and Rosberg who had no grip and was lapping 2 seconds slower.

Did you not see how close they were driving? At those speeds? How they were always hunting for the overtake? And this is Melbourne...

I agree that Rosberg had a fantastic weekend, not just the race. He came first in Practice 1, 2 and Saturday Practice, which is no small achievement after the outstanding speed of the Brawn-Mercedes was shown in Melbourne. I think it's pretty unfair to put a percentage on whos fault it was in that incident between Vettel and Kubica. At the end of the day, Vettel was big enough to say that he was the idiot and went to apologise to BMW afterwards.

Nothing wrong with the commentator imo. I don't see the big problem

Were you blind? The race was amazing. There were crashes and plenty of overtakes. Hamilton went from 18th to 12th and whatever way he did it, it was still overtaking.

No I didn't. Ok it might have been slightly more entertaining then recent years, but go watch some late 70s, 80's and early 90's races to see what you're missing. Qualifying used to be just to see who starts where, now its as if not more entertaining then the actual race.
