My Sony W910i has died and I have upgraded it to a Nokia N85.  The Sony is one of those shake phones, its music is excellent, I have a digi camera so the onboard camera (3.2mp) isn't a hugely important issue to me but I do love being able to just take a phone out of my pocket and click away without having to carry a camera everywhere.

My digi camera is 5mp, the Nokia has a 5mp camera on it.  I have a HP Photo printer at home (well hope to, its in my old house I moved out in Sept, ex moved in Dec, so who knows??).

Anyways, the reason for all this is I just want to know if any other people here have the N85? What do you think of it?

I used to have a Nokia but the pc suite used to fuck up so switched to SE and it worked perfectly.  The phone however didnt and just crashes all the time, its been factory reset plenty and been sent away about 3 times aswell.

My new phone arrives tomorrow.  I have read reviews but wouldnt mind knowing bf2s'ers opinions on it.

Thanks in advance.

I have the N81, works like a charm except the focus on the camera. But meh, no biggie.

Probably much better on the newer models

Phone arrived next day and it took 28 hours for it to be activated, I went anal at Orange a few times over that time and finally realised I had put the sim in the wrong way round, (not upside down), duhhhhh.
sorry
.

I put a load of songs on it last night, I bluetoothed my waxing video on to it and well impressed with the quality.  I have only taken 2 pics with the 5mp camera but that seems good.

It has a thing on it that scans for wireless networks, last night I was on the net with it but not sure who's network it was, whoever it is havent passworded it, so I might be able to start posting here in the nights aswell now.

Very impressed with the phone, shame the owners a bit of a knob though.  I looked at how the sim fitted in the SE and thought all phones would be the same.

Recently was given an N96.https://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w131/Flecco/awesomination.gifhttps://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w131/Flecco/awesomination.gifhttps://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w131/Flecco/awesomination.gifhttps://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w131/Flecco/awesomination.gif

Got around any and all issues with USB transfer of music/movies/pictures by gettting the phone to tell PCs it's a USB Mass-Storage Drive. Haven't had it crash at all. Image quality is https://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w131/Flecco/awesomination.gif sound quality from it is good as long as decent audio files and headphones/speakers are hooked up.https://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w131/Flecco/awesomination.gifhttps://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w131/Flecco/awesomination.gif

My older bro and I pretty much only ever buy Nokia phones now given the choice. Never had one break, though this new one looks like it will take a bit more looking after than the old brick I used to have.
Whoa... Can't believe these forums are still kicking.

I discovered on the weekend that my phone has a 'FM Transmitter'.  If you tune your radio into 107.5fm and then play your music, you radio picks up the songs the phone is playing, I was well impressed with this.

I can also listen to the radio (football commentry) without having to be restricted with headphones, they still work as the aerial but it plays on loudspeaker.

I really do like this phone and highly reccomend it, the battery when charged seems to last well.

Battery lasts well for now but will deteriate with time. I know my Nokia's battery capacity was shrinking.

Only charge it when it's at least had a 50% voltage drop then. Should keep it decent for longer.

That doesn't apply anymore.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP
