I agree, but Telstra had a dummy spit when it didn't look like they could get away with offering crap speeds, submitted a woeful (and late lol) proposal which was then rejected by the govt. so they have been cut out of the infrastructure completely.

It's about time Telstra was placed under some competitive pressure tbh. If they do want to compete with the govt. network, they will have to do it with greater speeds and affordability.

It's NSW state Labor that is in a total mess atm.

What would really be nice is if the Rudd Broadband plan is going to extend beyond the limits of the urban areas on the south/east coast and Perth.

@ Brinson.... I have posted repeatedly about the gun safe less than 10m from me. We gave up automatic rifles/shotguns and semi auto shotguns after a 36 person killing spree by a mentally unstable and very, very dull guy from Tasmania. Everything else requires a licence, a safe and a valid reason for ownership. It's a bit like having a licencing system for drivers to help prevent dangerous accidents on roads.

Well there hasn't been one of those America style (or European.. to be equitable) gun rampages since. Wait... Wait.. Since we gave up those kind of weapons and accepted much tougher regulations.

When did this become a pissing contest about USA vs. Australia? I can't name a single person who wants or will benefit from this that I personally know. Only people I can think of are the Federal Labor lot, who get Conroy on side, and Conroy, who gets to laugh at the mayhem he's just caused half the country as far as internet speeds go.

About the privacy stuff, I don't like it but we have to put up with it because Rudd sure as hell wont touch it with a 50ft stick and it was the Libs that introduced it. Why isn't Gillard the PM... WHY?
