First of all, I downloaded CS:S, non-legitimately, and it started in Russian.. but it worked..

Then I got a Steam Account which had CS:S amongst others on it.. so I downloaded CS:S through Steam.. but when I start it it's in Russian..

How do I fix this? It 'loads' in English (The loading button is in English) but then the screen refreshes and it's in Russian.. wtf. Tried right click > properties > language english in Steam but didn't work.

Halp?

My guess is that its downloaded the .gcfs in russian so you'll need to manually delete them and get some fresh english ones.

In Russia, they pirate WoW, and they run their own complete server structure. You pay somethin like $15 for the game, then nothing else for the couple years they keep the server+sales up.

Ehh it all works now.
Must have just had to restart after taking off the downloaded version.

It was just the text, no russian voices.

EDIT: Oh yeah my whole steam went in Russian too.. Good thing I went to the language centre about 20 times last night, knew how to do it in Cyrillics.

I'm a fuckwit? When you failed to restart CS:S/Steam/Windows/your computer before laboriously making a thread on an Internet forum, as well as going through all the fuss to find uploaded .GCF files and custom-modify your steam files? Riiiight. Anything on Windows that is broke, a restart will fix. Are you new to this? It's practically a law of physics and science and shit.

It was 2am when I made this topic. And looking back on it, I still don't see a connection to restarting my computer and it working. All the files were removed during the uninstall of the dodgey one, so I assumed the Russian prompt would be too.. what help would restarting do I thought?

Plus, I was downloading and folding.. didn't want to restart anyway.

Anyway, Uzi, go away.

Restarting normally changes registry entries and fully removes key components of a program/process that cannot be ended/removed whilst the system is operational. It's just a rule of thumb, you basically have to go through the chore of restarting Windows everytime you install or uninstall something in order for it to be fully added/removed. Just surprised you didn't 'know' that, it's fairly common knowledge.

I'm not trying to troll anyway so hush your pre-emptive QQ's, I just found it amusing. Wasted effort and all that .
