ArmA (Armed Assault) was a newer game by the programmers of OFP, Bohemia Interactive

OFP2 is a newer game by the publisher of OFP, Codemasters.

Some sort of falling out between the publisher and programmers. Codemasters kept the rights to the Operation Flashpoint name, but Bohemia Interactive kept the rights to the code base.

You can do that.

The mission editor if it is anything like the original (which is looks like) you can assign the stances each faction has.

I used to fight civilians or make them allies in the original for example. And you could make them independent of both factions or neutral,etc.
