OK, do you guys have any benchmarks for the Nvidia cards you guys are referring to in comparison to the other single-core ATi cards? Perhaps some cost numbers to attack to them?

I found this, btw: http://vr-zone.com/articles/amd-to-laun … l?doc=6578
It's about the 4890
275 is almost certainly going to perform as it's name would suggest, right in between a 260 and 285.  Since we already know it uses the same card that is in the 295 (all be it just the one of them).

I don't know of anywhere that is comiting to specs on the 4890, all we can say is it's going to be faster than the 4870

Between the price of the 260 and 295 .  Perhaps closer to the 285 though considering it is a **5 card.

I wonder what that would do to 285 sales though, it be right on it's heels in everything bar the mega high resolutions.

even GTX 260 SSC card is pretty much equal to GTX280. + some OC and its not that far from GTX 285. I honestly can't see need for the GTX 275. OC'ed GTX 260 has no problems hitting past GTX 275s planned performance level...

Am begining to think the 275 has two purposes:

1.  Take away some of the fan-fair from the 4890 launch.

2.  It help Nvidia clear some of the 295 stock, since parts ear marked for 295s, can now be sold, litterally seperetly.  I was reading that Nvidia had issues with cards failing due to the extreme heat in the 295.  This would let them get rid of cards that cant quite cut it in the dual GPU flagship.

If that is true the PCB will have a fugly hole.... as both PCBs of GTX 295 have a hole

edit: also its not possible. the PCBs of GTX 295 are not identical... and you'd need two power conenctors... GTX 295 PCBs have only one...

Aye, but for all intents and purposes there the same pcbs, power and the calibration is changes you can make till quite late on in the manufacturing process.  I wasnt suggesting that they would litterally be opening up 295 boxes and breaking the cards in two

yeah... the cores that just can't make it to GTX 285/295 specs will be dumbzored in a GTX 260 PCB.... that is what I'm guessing.

edit: a try to get em sold for a bit more than just disabling one SP cluster and selling it as GTX 260?

Can anyone post a link or write up a summary of the scale of which card is which? e.g. 1. 295 2. 285 3. 4890 ? stock not OC.

I haven't been able to build a custom rig in about two or three years so I am looking to start again. I'll make a separate about the hopeful build but I am wondering about which card is worth the money in how much you get for it.

GTX 295 > GTX 285 > GTX 280 > GTX 275 > GTX 260 core 216 > GTX 260 core 192

best bang for buck is found at GTX 260 Core 216 and their factory overclocked models.

edit: surprise, nvidia's model naming works in this case.

that's a first, how do the ATI cards stack up right now? nothing topping the 280?

Just got confirmed... GTX 275 will have same G200b-A3 chip as GTX 295.

higher clocks, essentially (40% i hear).  perhaps a new core but no major changes.

In my opinion (probably wrong lol) ATi are down playing their card atm (like they have in the past) and when nVidia releases it GTX  275 the HD4890 will beat it and cost less, and everybody will love ATi again.
