my boats never want to reload when other ships come by them so i get owned then they just surrender
With the right tech researched they will reload and fire faster ... and the wind direction in naval battles are crucial for the outcome if the fleets are evenly matched ... and they fight better and will not surrender so easy if you have an admiral in the fleet ...
Thing is, I research technology so slowly I get one every 5-8 turns or so
I think my last tech was the naval something or flintlock canon idk, one of them does the -5% reload time i know that
The first few tech goes pretty fast ... you will not be done with all the tech until 1750-1760 or so ... remember to asign those "gentlemen" to a university to research tech faster ... you can also send your gentlemens to other unis to steal tech

And you can trade tech of course ...

Grand Campaign world Domination hard/hard done in 38 years.

And it took longer then expected because I took out Russia and their cities are so damn far part it takes 2-3 turns just traveling.

And my tax money and best region
https://img24.imageshack.us/img24/9913/20883507.jpg

And Varegg... Tech tree is almost done. If I had bothered upgrading my colleges could probably be done in 3 or so years. ATM am destroying schools because I have more then techs to research.

I have also destroyed schools when I didn't need them anymore ... and 38 years ... that was fast

I finished my Grand campaign yesterday with the British and am at 1760 ... could prolly have done it faster but enjoy getting the newer units and trying out different strats in my first easy campaign before I go for harder difficulty and odd factions ...

Am playing a French campaign with my friend and am thinking of trying the Ottomans next, do want that Organ gun

Don't think it matters that much but the British is always a good first choice

oh shit, I didn't know you can steal tech from enemy colleges.

What about an enemy gentleman that doesn't move out of the region capital when you take it? I took over one of the Barbary states and their gentlemen didn't move out..?

Lol yeh, it wasn't as if I was trying either. It's just because you can train multiple units a turn and replenish troops on the move made constantly attacking much easier. If I was going for speed I wouldn't have attacked Russia, not only the time attacking them but once I'd finished I had 4 armies on the wrong side of the continent. I probably would not have gone Prussia either.

Funny thing was I had to kill off Sweden twice lol :p. I killed them off, but forgot to 'exempt them from taxes' so a rebellion started and they took back Stockholm (and at the time was preoccupied with Austria and Lithuania) so didn't do anything about it till later on where they had recaptured 4 more provinces.

Well from my (limited) experience all the factions are pretty similar. No similar is a bad word... 'the same'.

Also don't think there is an "America" in the Grand campaign.

I think they have to be at your schools/colleges to steal techs. If you want to get rid of them though, 3 options.
1. Assassinate
2. Duel
3. Destroy the nation (the simplest solution in my opinion)

As for stealing techs, the chance to do so was so low (13-20%) I couldn't be bothered after the first few tries and just sent the gentlemen to my own colleges to study.

Maybe, did the first episode of that, got halfway through the second and got bored of doing such menial shit that I quit and went straight to the grand campaign.

Haven't played the road to independence either but if that's the only way to start a campaign as the US I prolly will later on ...

@Drunkface: Am aiming to do a blitzkrieg with maybe the Germans later, all out attack relying on tax income alone ... no xtra money for buildings, roads, trade or tech and the provinces that rebel may very well just do so mopping them up later ... with Medieval2 that worked wonders and was a fun break from from normal gameplay

Do your areas still always rebel like in the other total wars when u have nearly conquered everywhere? Cos that was really fucking annoying in the old ones.

nope, now its more better organized because you can change tax level for each class and garrisons arent playing so big role in calming people down. you can choose from 4 type of buildings to build at the towns and each one is aimed for something. like when I got some region I started to build up religious buildings and when a level of my faith was pretty acceptable, I destroyed them and started to build economical buildings or vice verse. really now its more easier to manage towns and make people happy.

Guys, how do I build more educational buildings to reasearch more shit at the same time? One School is annoying me.

Yes, and the game is awesome.

look for other "towns" and either knock down whichever building is there already, or go capture a new region to get more.

also after awhile a new town will pop up in highly prosperous regions

But I have several towns ( over 10 ) and only one ( Salamanca ) has a school. How do I build more on the other towns? I don't see a clearcut option to this.

if you click on the church/workshop/entertainment building of some kind  that is built on the little town, there should be a picture of a torch on the right side somewhere that will let you raze the building.

after that you can rebuild a school there. be careful though.... too many schools lead to a LOT of screaming for reform from the populace

Douchers. Two of my captured regions have already rebelled, within a year of capture. I had to set them straight.

It's annoying, but it also cuts down on my army upkeep.

In one province you can have 4 different type of inland towns ...

1.Church-like
2.School
3.Industry
4.Entertainment

So look through the cities you have ... you must raze one of them using the torch option which takes one turn and the next turn you can build a school ...

Be sure to send your gentlemen into the schools for faster research ... and good luck with Spain

Put lower-class tax to 5% to encourage population growth and the creation of new towns. Don't destroy existing buildings in towns (until late game), it's a waste of good money and time.

My advice is put taxes as low as possible early game and get as many trade routes as possible for your income. Early pop and wealth increases will help you enormously mid-late game (compound interest at it's best).
