One of many.. A former president gets what he wants... even though while in office they couldn't actually make legislation. They do however market it and introduce it through their proxies in Congress. Do you think Obama is the most powerful Democrat in the nation? Fuck no.. the stimulus bill was written in Nancy Pelosi's office.

Yup.
All that vote are union thugs and government employees like cops, teachers and firemen.

That's why so much unsustainable bs has been passed.

All this voter apathy has really bit us in the ass.

Do some quick math.

8.1% of the employable workforce is out of work.

That means that 91.9% of the employable work force is NOT out of work.

We've got a LONG way to go before it becomes a tax revenue problem.

The bigger problem for tax revenues is the drop in property taxes due to foreclosures and devaluation. That hits local government...hard.
Those number are cooked number 1. That's not the people out of work, that's the people on Unemployement so I'd push that up to probably at least 12 or more. Then on top of that you have people who are commision based and getting salary cuts, I'm thinking more or less there's probably a loss of taxable income of around 25% right now.. Just speculation..

Fix for the mortgage crisis.. Allow sales at a higher interest rate at a homes true value with no penelty.  Reasses all the property taxes in ever county. Allow good borrowers to get better interest rates then people with loan mods, as a perk for someone to live in a property and pay on time for a long period of time, also allow good borrowers to borrow over the home value.

Maybe the Zapista (sp?) movement deserves support.
It's value based taxation - you are taxed on your net worth, not on what income you earn.  So the hobby is figuring out how to prove to the government you are worthless.
If they tax based on how much is in the bank wouldn't you just buy up assets/capital like crazy then?
Have you ever seen the movie Brewster's Millions with Richard Prior?

It's like that.  You can't buy assets, because it doesn't decrease your overall value.  So in Mexico, they just hide it.  A new car/house isn't hiding anything, and there's a theoretical limit to purchasing $5 items...

Any western government that doesn't have a budget surplus after the last 10 years of economic boom is failing its people.

We learn to live without electricity, roads, etc. and till our own little plots of land behind 10 ft high barbed wire strewn walls whilst clutching our shotguns.

We just need another World War to get the economy back on track...

Governments are going to have to find ways to put people back to work so they can tax. Hopefully the nationalised companies and/or organisations will make enough enough money in order to rise above a deficit or no profit at all.

You want some cheese with that tax-whine? Your taxes are still low in general in the US, don´t worry you will be just fine.

So, yeah, I'd like some cheese...assuming its not gotland blue and there's no tax on it.

$7 per six pack.  $2 in bad bars. $3.50 in nice bar.  Bar beers aren't taxed directly - the bar owner pays a bunch, so figure 40-50% tax and/or fees.

I'm not doing the conversion to kroners or whatever is gold standard in your neck of the woods.

Does Sweden have beer?  I've never seen an import in South Texas from Sweden, the great maker of cheese country.  lol
