Check your trade window, there you will find info on what your current tradespots yields and who you are trading with ... if you hover over the green line leading away from the tradespot you will find out how much gold is generated from that spot ... you will notice a difference between having one or two or three Indiamen there, more than two or three at the same spot is a waste me thinks ... spread them out to cover several types of goods ...

The games fun and all but seems pretty easy.

It's 1716, I started as Prussia (2 starting prov) in a world Domination hard/hard. I'm already up to like 15 provinces (need 40 to win) and my 'prestige' is almost triple that of the next strongest faction, Britain.

The only 'difficult' thing is stopping the damn plebs from rioting and destroying my towns, but I'm making close to 8k (and thats with half the areas exempt from taxes) a turn so it's just constant repairs while the 'rebels' cool down.

Flecco wrote:

200 turns is more than enough considering once you get a decent empire in the other ones you can take a settlement a turn if you have decent supply lines and a nice flow of cash along with a few massive armies laying siege to everything.
I should be finished in a third of that time. And this TW is so much quicker because you can make up to at least 4 (may be higher later on) units in every town each turn compared to just 1 (or half for the good units) in previous TW games.

I always had high taxes + large town garrisons in M:TW2.

The high taxes seemed to cover the increased expenditure from having so many troops about.

Don't need any town garrisons to keep order anymore and high taxes reduces growth in both population and future income.
I have lowest tax on lower class and the middle tax on upper class.

I guess I had a bug on trading spots. when I occupied them my ships flags turned into that flashing money icon flag but still there was no route from that spot showing how many income do I earn from it.

In all the other Total War games you should have a settlement or two by then.

Dunno what the grand campaign map is like in this one though.
Great Britain starts out with like 8 towns already so I figured I could wait. I would also need a fleet to transport them and that takes a good two turns per ship..

Aaaaaah. Fair enough. In the total war games I'm used to you start with, at max, 4 provinces (Holy Roman Empire), usually 1 or 2. No rebels/not many rebels in this then? I guess Europe wouldn't have any anyway.

No 'Rebels' just a shit load of single state factions.

You have your 12 'major' factions you can play, but another 40 or so single state ones you can interact with. The starting number of provinces varies from 2 with Prussia to something like 11 for the Ottoman empire.

My game icon's vanished off of Steam. Other people have the same problem. Guess that's $50 for two days.

GG...back to Bioshock. We all know that game was flawless on release...

Edit 1: http://howdoiinstallempiretotalwar.blogspot.com/ Problems like this are one of the reasons why PC gamers are trickling to consoles. WTF. Dawn of War 2's gone as well. What the fuck gives?

Edit 2: Eh, they're back now. Way to give me a $100 heart attack. As I was saying...consoles...yes, I think I'll play some PS2 now.

Edit 3: OK, neither of them will start. Five minutes later, DoW2 randomly started. I think Shadow of the Colossus is a good place to start.

Was a minor update through steam yesterday, after the update my game crashed twice and was laggy as hell the rest of the evening

Besides that I had my biggest battle so far against the Mysore nation ... got attacked straight after my troops landed by 1500 or so troops + they had reinforcements of about 1200 in the port ... had to fight the battle twice before I finally finished them off *phew*

Had my special British troops (Rogers Rangers) with me and two units of Hessian infantry that totally kicked ass, those 3 units alone with the latest rank by fire tech killed roughly 800 out of a total 2700 casualities ... cannister shots with the cannons quickly eliminated their elephant troops

After a massive upgrade of buildings with the steam engine I now make around 80K pr round and have started making 5 full size armies to conquer the last 5 provinces I need to finish the game ... Malta, Egypt and 3 provinces in India ...

Naval facilities are done and all ships possible are now available, have a fleet of 1st rate ships under construction in Spain, England and France

I hope the option to keep playing after your goals are reached are implemented in Empire also ...

With the right tech researched they will reload and fire faster ... and the wind direction in naval battles are crucial for the outcome if the fleets are evenly matched ... and they fight better and will not surrender so easy if you have an admiral in the fleet ...

Thing is, I research technology so slowly I get one every 5-8 turns or so
I think my last tech was the naval something or flintlock canon idk, one of them does the -5% reload time i know that

i wiped out the Huron Confederacy finally

fuckers kept aggravating me with their raids on my farmlands so I sent my full stack army for diplomatic relations

EDIT: I wiped the French out with an invasion of Normandy, went straight to Paris, had a 1500 full stack army with 4000 reinforcements
cakewalk

Frenchy and his little buddy spain then proceded to blockade my ports and i lost ~$50000 then the French were defeated in two turns and I then had a peace treaty with Spain

i'm rolling in the cake again and Quebec formed a new country
