If the Taliban had been prepared to help find Bin Laden the last US govt would have been happy to work with them.
And they would still be running Afghanistan, Sharia law or not.
Oh, hell.
I must need a drink.
Two posts within the last 15 minutes where I agree with Dilbert_X.
That's the thing, Taliban and AQ ideology are very close to each other, hence why AQ were having such a field day in Afghanistan until the party was gatecrashed. So it would be pretty impossible for the Taliban to work against AQ...
These days Taliban is just a general term for all the people fighting against ISAF, it doesn't necessarily mean all of them are pure Taliban longing for the glory days. Alot of them are just those Pashtun nationalist tribes who are just known to fight all invaders, alot of people are doing it for money etc.. it's just that people just clump it all together. Kind of like how all the people fighting against the Coalition in Iraq were dubbed as terrorists. To think that all the enemies in Afghanistan are under a single Taliban banner would be stupid... it's just an easy term to describe the enemy in that country instead of confusing everyone with all sorts of names.
