They should make flying the helo the same Desert Combat. Its to easy to fly.
It seems the same as BF Nam, which sucks, IMO.

Close your eyes and randomly assign new buttons to the flight controls of the chopper. Then try to fly and tell me how easy it is.

DC was/is easy to fly the choppers if you practice enough.  Changing anything now would be mute.  Players will always adapt to whatever vehicle they want to use.

I agree but there was not as many Helo pilots in DC, because it was harder to fly.
I agree that it is not hard to fly with practice but it was much harder than BF2 helo's.

Hi
Not many players can master the helicopters (attack or transport)...
But most can make them stay in the air for a little while... I think "Dice" got it really good - Don't complain...
If they made it like DC you would just complain people crashed helicopters all the time - Because people would still try to fly them...

The choppers are easy to fly as long as you dont try to pull tricks they're far easier than damn jets!

I must suck more than a two dollar whore in Bangkok at flying helicopters.
Easy? I don't think so. At least not for me.

It was my privledge to fly as gunner with an absolutely brilliant heli pilot fighting as MEC on the Sharqui (SP?) map awhile ago, and I'm sorry to say that I don't recall his username at the moment . . .

While relying on classic "Nap of the earth" and "Pop up" heli tactics to stalk targets and set me up for TV missle shots, he was also adept at loops, barrel rolls, Split-S meneuvers, and prolonged inverted flight; and he regularly flew around and through "congested areas" while simultaneously maintaining both a conversational and a tactical dialogue (using VoIP and text) with me and the rest of the team. It was also apparent that we were both relying on our "Camera View" options to track and prioritize our targets and potential threats.

He treated "Enemy (unit) Spotted" messages as task assignments, consistantly remained "on station" until almost all weapons were expended, seldom broke off engagement for repairs / reloads until we were down to 2 or 3 bars of health, and rarely engaged the USMC Cobra until any "pending" ground threats had been dealt with.

We only crashed once during the round, into the crane boom, while evading a Cobra rocket barrage after capping the construction site CP; and thanks to his skill, I know what it's like to look up at the laundry hanging in the alley on the North side of town as we sneaked into position to put a missle into an M1A shelling the central CP.

He was a smart and considerate team player - he said he was using a ThrustMaster joystick - and he set an outstanding example of the role and attitude that an attack chopper pilot should assume to properly support the team . . .

I dont think that there is anything wrong with the way that the controls are set up. If you guys want military sims, go and play them,  bust this is the blockbuster big bangs arcadey land, so enjoy the spectularity of it while it is here

T1mbrW0lf,
I know what you mean. I've had the pleasure of gunning with some pretty good pilots as well. Makes sitting up front more fun than actually flying. I play with a small group and I was gunning for one the other night on Wake Island. We were on teamspeak and had another player flying overhead in the F-35. He would spot something and let us know where it was. Got my highest score ever just sitting up front and killing anything red. Had a blast doing it too.

As for the choppers themselves, I learned to fly them with DC and was disappointed with BFV. They were so easy that I had to learn to fly again. I did notice that they are a litlle harder to fly in BF2 than in BFV, but not much. To be honest I hardly ever fly them other than just playing around. I don't fly them during combat. I got my basic helo badge by gunning. My only complaint with the choppers is that they are too tuff. I know there are several threads about how things should be so I won't go into that. I just think that if the AT/AA missile is designed to take out a tank, how in the hell can an unarmored chopper survive? I think they need to be easier to take down, that's all. My opinion. I do like the that the 1.03 patch makes everyone get out to take a flag faster. It stops the flying engineer squadron from taking your flags in 5 seconds in their indestructable flying tank. Anyway, I say leave them as is as far how they fly.

I use to find flying helis in BF2 hard (stuff like trees, bulidings and stuff got in way) but go to "Make Sever" or what ever it is, and just fly about for a while, get to know how to fly each heli

HAHA yeah dont complain!! I used to play Battlefield Vietnam and people in that would hover right over ur head nonstop and kill you, choppers in BF2 take alot of getting used too. jets on the other hand are simple... if you can handle the speed
Id like to say im a good chopper flyer however i still have one down side can not dodge a suacide jet yet.. and my aiming still a little off, and really good jet people own me lol but i havent crasehed for months

There should be some manner of a pilot kit and ranks to keep lone wolf glory hounds and single transport pilots out of choppers.  Something like the commander election, maybe the pilots spawn first according to rank and just wait in their respecitve birds for the rest of the team.  Gunship and Slick pilot ranks, fixed wing ranks, higher ranks get first choice for x rounds or until voted out, but a good pilot and gunner or slick pilot should have preference just like commanders.  just my 2 cents

Just keep it as it is - Always irritating, but they should concentrate on fixing the bugs first...
