bf2 ping problem

lately i can not play bf2 online, as every uk server where i normally ping at around 62, is hovering around 400, constantly, 24/7.

Every other service such as http is fine, irc, etc all low ping, getting 70kb/s etc.

but bf2 ping is never less than 300 which means i just get kicked from every server i join straight away. This is fucking shit, but i dont know why this is happening ?

Cant get through to my isp, and if it was a bad line, everything would be affected wouldnt it!?

That's because everybody with your ISP is having issues and calling the ISP at the same time. Give it some time; it'll get fixed.

You aren't downloading torrents/files while playing, are you? Are you sure you're playing on servers that are close to you?

+XFire, Steam, MSN/AIM, Ventrilo, etc. all add to your ping, disable those programs (if you use them) to see if your ping lowers.

Oh and try other games, see if it's just BF2 or games in general.

I got the same problem on bf2 and 2142. I believe it is specific to those games, havent had a chance to game all that much recently, but COD4 was working fine.

mine was in the 300 range on UK servers.

Only happens on BF2, is there an EA server on the traceroute or when you connect to x server do you just connect to it ?

I'd say check with your ISP and if you use by any chance wireless do check what are the active connections in your router, maybe someone culd be stealing your internets.

Ok it seems our isp highers our pings somehow when in peak (weekend and 7pm - 7am times). Instead of just capping me to 70kb/s as usual it somehow caps our pings to higher than 400. This is to stop gamers sucking up the bandwidth in games. Lovely.

In contract for 9 months so not much i can do about it either

I had a great time earlier on a server, ping 58 constantly, then lost connection. rejoined and now hovers around 160, peaks at 210 where i get autokicked for high ping.

Really dont understand this problem.

Your ISP locks your ping at about 400 to stop gamers sucking up the bandwidth.
