I disagree, I believe we do need what you consider to be "assault rifles". The 2A is not about self defense, sport or hunting, its about the people having the power, and being able to overthrow the government if need be.

To uphold all of the campaign rhetoric would be impossible.  (Perhaps that's why people hate politicians--they continually sound like they are going to implement practically impossible programs.)
