Obama beer sparks controversy

President Barack Obama is getting some flack and some praise after enjoying a beer.

He was at an NBA basketball game and ordered a brew. Images of Mr. Obama enjoying a beer have angered some people.

One caller to WWL complained, "People are losing 5, 10, 20 thousand dollars a day in the stock market, and he's sitting there drinking a beer!" She also said, "It's insulting... there's a lot of people suffering." She insisted President Obama should not publicly have fun during a time of so much pain.

"That's the craziest thing I've ever heard in my life," one man called in to reply. "He didn't mess up the country, first of all... let's be real now. A man's gotta take some down time."

"She needs to get a life," another called responded. "We all need to lighten up."

Another man said, "Aww heck, you know, ain't nothin' wrong with it. He's takin' a little break, knockin' him down a cold one."

However, another woman was upset about the courtside presidential beer. "The president is the president 24 hours a day. I don't think he should drink on the job."

Obama should address the nation much like GWB did after 9/11:
"My fellow Americans, I know our economy is in the dumps. I know you are scared about our future. But open up your wallets and spend spend spend! I will be announcing a War on the Economy in athe coming days. We will allocate +$800 billion to throw away during this War, because after all what good is a war if you don't waste a shit-ton of money in the name of it?"

If I were him I'd be slamming beers left and right. No one is going to charge the President for a brew! And if they do he can just make a Secret Serviceman spring for it.

It's like these people on the CNN site bitching about how they bought a swingset for their kids.

The man makes $400,000 a year just being president. That's not even beginning to factor in things like interviews, book signings etc. The man's worked hard to reach the position he's in, so if he wants to buy a beer or a play set for his kids let him.

Would he, in a drunken rage, order the launch of half our nuclear arsenal, reducing the Korean Peninsula to a smoking pile of radioactivity? Or would he, if he's a happy drunk, just say, "ah, Kim-Jong ain't so bad -- he's just lettin' off some steam" and not do anything at all?

I wouldn't be surprised if there's some sort of plan in place if the president is partying with pink elephants and shit hits the fan. I just don't know what it is.
