This is a local story but I'm pretty sure it's gained national attention also since some of the missing boaters were professional athletes. It's amazing that this guy was still alive. He was in the water since Saturday.

Rescued Boater Was In Water Since Saturday Afternoon

TAMPA - The U.S. Coast Guard found one of four missing boaters wearing a lifejacket and clinging to their capsized vessel in the Gulf of Mexico about 40 miles southwest of Clearwater and continued searching today for the other three.

Nick Schuyler, a former University of South Florida football player, was rescued and taken to Tampa General Hospital, where he was admitted in serious but stable condition.

His father, Stuart, said this afternoon that his son was dehydrated and his body temperature was below normal. He had some scrapes and bruises, but, his father said, "He should be OK."

He was with former Tampa Bay Buccaneers Marquis Cooper and Corey Smith and Will Bleakley, another former University of South Florida football player when the four left on a fishing trip about 6:30 a.m. Saturday and did not return.

Ray Sanchez, Cooper's cousin, said the Coast Guard told family members all four men were together about 12 hours after the boat flipped but three drifted away. All were wearing lifejackets.

Cooper's boating experience gives the family hope, he said.

"If he wasn't experienced and didn't know what he was doing, maybe we'd worry," Sanchez said. "We're confident he's going to come home. He'll be back, definitely."
Night is falling here now and although I have high hopes.. the outlook for the rest of them is bad.. .

"Schuyler told his rescuers that the boat was anchored Saturday evening when it was overturned by waves during a storm, Close said. He told them that all four men were clinging to the boat for a time, but became separated, Close said."

We were supposed have storms Sunday but apparently it came in quicker than they thought. I think they were on a 21 ft boat. I can tell you that my trees were blowing like a hurricane was coming in late Saturday. They were out in the gulf, I can't imagine.

Yup, weather can sneak up really fast on the water if your not careful and sometimes even if you are. I woke up Sunday morning to what sounded like hail on my window. The wind was insane too. I'm glad he made it, hopeful the others will too.

and about the title, I'm not trying to be funny here but I honestly thought you meant 1/4 of 1 person was found, I'm glad I was wrong.

Pops was a CG pilot for 28 years.  If they haven't found them by now...  Granted one could survive for a very long time in FL waters... Anchored up in a storm in the gulf?  Pull anchor and point yer' bow into the wind.

I stood in line for four hours. They better give me a Wal-Mart gift card, or something.  - Rodney Booker, Job Fair attendee.

I hate to be a pessimist, but if they don't find them within the next day I'd say without a miracle happening, it's pretty likely they're gone..

Do you feel that chill tonight? I cringe when I go outside just thinking about them in the water..

I can't imagine it being easy to hold onto a slippery curved piece of metal in a storm.

Pops could tell a story or two..  In Alaska you had less that 20 minutes once you hit the water sans survival suit.

Man Saturday had a biting wind on the Panhandle.  I'm a bit north, but a front is pushing through.. The fire last night burned the wood for tonight.

I've lived/boated in St. Pete area. .  Unless its a squall/fogged out, you'll see a system push through.  They should have gotten away from it. You boat?

That's right. I'm sure after more than 24 hours without water and food they were also in a weakened state.

All my life. I grew up on the water.. I used to have a wave runner, loved to wake board, ski, and fish too. They went out in the morning (early), and they were pretty far out. They were searching over 9k sq miles for them. One of the ones still missing was an avid boater.

Cooper's boating experience gives the family hope, he said.

I wonder if it would be possible to hold on to the motor instead of the smooth hull. It looks like you could get a decent grip on it in the photos. But it's probably not big enough for four people to grab onto at once...

I hope they find them.

Yamaha gp1200.  She'd go about 64mph.  I love that area.  Only boating I do now is down on the keys and river commutes to duck laden areas.

Nope, remember that story about those guys who managed to survive at sea in a tub for a month or so (this was very recently), how the fuck did they manage to do that

Hence why I said "without a miracle happening".
