You can by Empire Total Was from a shop and dl for free from steam after you verify your copy. Best of both worlds.

I dont have any of those problems.
1 crash (tonight funnily enough), a few times the friends thing has bugged. I fail to see why this makes Steam a terrible program. Xfire is just as bad if not worse.
