Your comparing pride in who you are (or in your specific case - were), with pride in where you come from as if they are mutually exclusive and incompatible.

US flags on every street in the neighbourhood is national pride, that you'll find hard to match such enthusiasm across the world. And your upset by some in game tags?

Your proud of the fact you where a US marine, so you advertise it. Some people are proud of where they come from and advertise that. FFS they are one and the same. When I was in the US every second house had a flag on it. ppl get shot for putting up flags, where I live.
So its ok to put a flag up outside your house but not put a tag in front of your name in game? In Europe we have a shit load of different languages. Allot of them sound the same to me. Like I know the guy im playing with is Spanish because I can pick out some words or the twang of his accent. Same with French and German. But go into Eastern Europe and all the different languages sound the same to me, so the tag lets you know who you are playing with. You don't know of give a fuck about this because you can pick an American accent out a mile away in game.

what does a US flag in the US have anything to do with what i am talking about? that argument fails. and i dont see that many flags anywhere, so i am not sure where you were at.

you people seem to miss the point as usual, then feed off each others misguided arguments.

names like usmarine, royalmarine, britishsillynanny, autrailianchanslaw, ect are fine. idk about those. i find the tags annoying as it screams i am gay imo.

How can a country tag be gay?

It's a very common feature for non US gamers to have some part of the gaming nick showing their origin ... atleast in Europe it is ...

JahManRed, Varegg and I have no idea why your double standards of national pride and in-game pride exist and you've done very little to convince myself why you find country tags so offensive. I can't see your justification. And you fail to note to correlation between country tags and the username USmarine, in a gaming forum. You could just as easily chosen Marine.

But I guess you find USmarine would be suitable since it's an occupation? Enjoy playing in servers with tags like [Doctor]Killshot and {SingleMother}DeathAdder would you?

National pride shouldn't be allowed in online gaming, is that your proposal? Or even national identity? lol

This is for practical reasons though, not nationalistic ones, and that is why Americans never have a [USA] tag.

The point of showing your nationality in your name is to indicate that you're not a native-English speaker, duh. That's always been the point of having these random suffix-tags attached to your name; it's to find people of the same nationality/language as you in a server that is likely to have players from all over Europe. Americans don't really have this problem, speaking English and all... that's how I see it anyway. How the hell did the thread even turn to talking about this? I made a semi-facetious remark about the typecast and pointless traditionalism of the modern Bills, I don't care about national identity or identity-pride!

Read the quote below. Americans did not spawn in the U.S. The majority came from Europe and yes some laws and traditions were mirrored from the old country. Now if you want to put the text in layman terms, I am all for that because I do not understand half of what is being said...I am on page 11 of the stimulus bill and like

The US was founded in the 16/1700s by Europeans so its not pointlessly redundant. Its legal system and laws where based on European practices. Most legal documents, title deeds etc are all wrote in that style here in Ireland too.
The US has plenty of heritage. Perhaps you should lift a book for a change? Back to bed with you.

becaue Marine was taken by the time i signed up dude. didnt feel like being Marine8885767558. it has nothing to do with national pride. it was trying to find a combo that was not already being used.
