Yeah, basically sometimes whilst using my mouse the light will go off, I'll get the der dung sound promptly followed by the dung der sound.

Happens mostly when I don't use the mouse, but also happens when I am using the mouse. Sometimes up to three times in a row. Reinstalled drivers, checked connection.

What's next? =/

My mouse does the same at random intervals, then again its already being subjected to a few years of violent gaming so I might just have broken it It is a Mx518 btw.

It's a microsoft comfort optical mouse 3000.

Mouse functions fine when it's working btw, changed USB ports, same problem.

I think as you RDMC, years of gaming have just started eating it away :p

If it's old, you really might want to replace it.

Sounds like a break in the cable/lead. When it's working try wiggling the lead around to see if you can get it to disconnect.

Failing that try another USB port as already mentioned.

Apparently wiggling/messing with the cables that go into the mouse can help too...(that is, right at the hole in which it goes in)
