What kind of psychosis must you have to entrust a pre-teen with a lethal weapon?

And don't come at me with "it's not the gun's fault." Seriously. Fuck you. Fuck anyone who thinks it's safe and responsible to give a child his own child-sized gun (so he can look like a big boy when he shoots it!) I don't give a flying fuck whose fault it is. There was a gun involved, and guns are pure fucking evil.

Now obviously what happened to that woman is tragic and the father must feel horrible, but dude...... you gave your son a FUCKING SHOTGUN

Imagine what the kid will have to grow up with. I predict major emotional issues there. I wonder if the father is being charged for not properly securing the rifle..although that would be horribly heartless.

Bad parenting is precisely what it is. I don't care if a kid is allowed to have a gun as long as he's under strict supervision at ALL times and it's kept in a safe when not in use.

Most kids learn to shoot around 12 where I'm from. They must take gun safety first though. I think... I never took it, but then again I was never a fucking demon child.

You're also forgetting that people killed each other before guns.

No.  Put the blame on the party committing the action. 
In this case, a majority of the blame lies with a seriously deranged 11 year old.
Perhaps some part of the blame lies in the parenting.. perhaps some blame in the schooling.. perhaps .. many things

Yes the father was a moron for letting his kid have unrestricted access to not just the gun, but the ammo as well.  That being said:

1.  "There was a gun involved, and guns are pure fucking evil."  is one of the more idiotic statements I've ever seen/heard.  Assigning "good" or "evil" to an inanimate object is redarded because it implies intent.

2.  It's not child size so he can look like a big boy, it's that size so he can actually carry it and aim it properly and learn how to safely use a gun.  When he bought the gun, the father was probably hoping simply to teach his son how to shoot so that he could go hunting with him, something that is hard for someone the size of an 11 year old to do with a full sized gun.

3.  Do you have any idea how many fathers who hunt also buy their kids guns so they can go out to the fields and hunt with them.  This is a tragic incident, yes, but don't say that buying a kid a gun will typically result in that kid going out and committing murder.
