The fact that he murdered her is what is important, not necessarily how he did so. But having said that, beheading does seem to be a part of the Islamic culture (or at least of the middle east). To many (me included) it seems very barbaric. But, in the end you are still killing someone.

But for anyone who disagrees that beheadings are part of Islamic culture,

Quranic verses that dictate beheading and cutting off of body parts as well as a general predilection to killing.

5:33-"The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger, and strive with might and main for mischief through the land is: execution (by beheading), or crucifixion, or the cutting off of hands and feet from opposite sides, or exile from the land: that is their disgrace in this world, and a heavy punishment is theirs in the Hereafter;"

9:123: "Oh ye who believe! Murder those of the disbelievers and let them find harshness in you."

2:191- "Kill them wherever you find them, and drive them out from wherever they drove you out."

^^^^ The difference is that most religions have grown up in terms of violence, Islam hasn't. Christians, Catholics tend to understand that violent parts of the bible were written a long time ago and don't promote that or follow it, but in Islam, they are taught that EVERY word of the Koran is truth and thousands of children are being taught that even in this day in the madrasas.

I do not see pastors, preachers, priests teaching violence against other religions or peoples or the use of stoning, cruxifiction..etc. But, there are many places in Europe, even America and of course all over the Arab world where violence is taught in repetition as part of their religion. It is far more prevalent than most want to think it is.

Lets me say firstly, i am simply debating the fact that Muhammad ordered the beheading of however many people. Firstly, approved is different from ordered (not a strong point).

Second, the source Ibn Ishaq is dismissed because he is considered to be a "Qadariyah". (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ibn_Ishaq) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qadariyah). Now apparently these people think "Allah cannot know a man's actions in advance" and "Qadaris also deny other core tenants of Sunni belief including the belief in the Punishment of the Grave", Now we all know Muslims and similar religions  think of God as all knowing & some of us know that 75 percent of world's muslims are Sunni (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_of_Islam). Essentially what I am trying to say is that the dude in question is not really a muslim and therefore has lost credibility as a source.
