And since we're not all qualified to be scientists that can spend their life studying the cure for cancer, we're doing our bit with what we have. What's your problem with f@h? You do realise we're doing more now than if we didn't fold. And who knows, we might get something. I'd rather fold in the hope that theres a chance we could discover something, than not fold and definately get nothing.

As for the "directly to charity" mentioned, most charity organizations are so corrupt and broken that perhaps 1/20 of the money given actually does anything. Not to mention that that you can't use that charity for your own selfish needs whenever you want.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. Donating : One time. Most of the money won't even go into research.

Folding: Continuous, a good investment, as you can do other things with the hardware you purchase.

Also, I didn't even spend money on my computer for the primary reason of folding. I purchased it to Game. Then I started folding. So really I didn't spend any money on folding, so therefore it was more effective than donating, which I didn't do.

Uninformed statements! All the rage with fanboys.

Charities dealing with cancer treatment and research work, this is proven and they have, as of yet, saved more lives than this project. Your statement about most charities are so corrupt on 5% of the money goes towards the cause is laughable to save the least. Maybe in third world countries like Darfur etc where the aid doesn't go to the needy yes, but not here, there are regulations and laws for that kind of thing.
