Four and counting ...

http://uk.reuters.com/article/reutersCo … T520090206

Solis was the fourth member of the new administration to run into trouble over unpaid taxes. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner was confirmed by the Senate after paying $34,000 in late self-employment taxes.

Health Secretary-designate Tom Daschle withdrew from consideration this week after paying $140,000 in back taxes and penalties, and Nancy Killefer, Obama's choice to oversee budget and spending reform, also withdrew over tax issues.

Maybe we can pay for the stimulus package by making these liberals pay their taxes.

Obamas new stimulus plan should be investigating the rest of the house and senate for unpaid taxes.

What I want to know is how these people got away with non payment.  If it was you or I, the IRS would be banging on our door the week after the deadline passed.

And these clowns have security clearances...HOW?

Credit record is the first thing that gets looked at when you're going for even an entry-level Secret clearance.

I'd think that members of Congress would have their tax papers, credit records, criminal records, and personal investments quite closely examined before they're sworn in.

Oh, wait.. nevermind.. that would've barred any Kennedy, Clinton, or Bush from holding any public office in the last 50 years.

It is ok, these liberals know what is best ofr us and how to spend our money. We should not be fretting over something as insignifiant as their cheating on taxes. Just ask them.

The US tax gap currently sits around $345 billion per year. (ie. the difference between what the IRS thinks they should recieve in tax and the amount that they actually get)

That's an average of $1000 per person.

It seems like it should be quite hard to find anyone who does pay all their taxes.

Then don't run for office on the premis that you are honest and for the people. Then vote in laws that penalize everyone for cheating on taxes, except you. Then maybe I might not have a problem. That, or allow me to cheat on my taxes.

I kind of agree here.  I mean, cheating on your taxes is not something that should simply be permitted if it is discovered, but...  the pool of people qualified to be Cabinet members is relatively small.

Among this small group of people, it would probably be hard to find someone with a completely clean slate.

lol, they'll get us for getting an extra $10 in deductions, but let their own slide with $140,000 unpaid?
