Best i thought was karkand or sharqi..cus theyre close combat..as for a tip try and sneak on ppl most of the time but if ur desperate run at them and before you press the button to go prone click shoot to use the knife! this will result in a kind of diving knife attack if done properly! i got my expert in karkand..and no it was not a knife and pistol only server! for the ppl seeing that there was 2 kills with pistols shown..(there is also an ak101)

a croweded server and a close-quarters map.

24/7 karkand or 24/7 sharqi = best!

I actually got my Expert on WARLORD! I was at the SAS base destroying assests and had the opportunity to kill a few at the base. Then just waited at the closest flag and got the rest there.

I'm guessing the mods are going to close this thread since if you search you'll find this discussed and answered elsewhere. There is some good tips in previous threads if you search.

In case it isn't closed ... I got mine recently on a half-full 64-player Karkand playing sniper class. Half-full 64-player Karkand gives you lots of targets but also lots of tickets, and sniper class is good because n00bs have trouble telling friend from foe

I am getting really irritated with trying to get knife kills. When you use the knife you usually get one good swipe with the knife before they notice you and start shooting. It has been several months since I was able to get a knife kill with just the first swipe. You have to hit several times to get the kill. You get the puff of smoke, the clang, all the signs of a hit but they dont die until the second or third swipe. Its really annoying. I practice on single player and its a kill on the first swipe every time.

Do to the very little time I spent getting my vetern knife badge at Kirkland, I say that is the best.  I think I spent a total of 5 mins getting 7 kills as USMC.  It is great to sneak around the corners into the alley ways before Hotel and kill everyone that try to hide there.

Try to go onto Warlord or Ghost Town, be Spec Ops and zip line down behind them. This is how I got my badge. I'd wait on a roof and when someone tried to capture a Cp I'd zip down and knife them. By the time they saw me or heard me they were dead.

Or go onto a server which is 64 map with 16 people playing. You have about an hour to get your badge instead of a half hour. Also they's less chance you'll get attacked twice as most guys move in ones.

I think personally that the best map to do it is Wake Island 64 player, just find the hot spots iv'e had around 15 in one round, not quite expert but i'll keep trying.

If you sneak around the sides at the bottom of the hill slopes then just rush in the back of them and start stabbing!

that could be the ping thing. if yours is higher than his you might as well use the knife to clean your fingernails.

Wait, if you're playing an expansion map what counts towards you're main profile?  I thought the expansion maps were seperate and didn't count as far as time or rewards in the vanilla game.

A knife kill is a knife kill.  It doesn't matter what map or mod you get it in.  It counts towards the global requirement of 50 for the Veteran Knife Badge and the 100 for the Expert Knife Badge, before you can attempt the In A Round Requirements for the Badge.  I have gotten my Basic Explosives Badge for BF2 in Special Ops when I got my Veteran Sniper Specialist Badge in the same round.

I just got my basic knife badge last night on karkand. I tried before using a medic and a sniper but had a hard time. This time I used a spec ops and it went really fast. I also did it on a 32 player server which really seemed to make a big difference. Before I was trying on a 64 and it just wasn’t happening.

I only have a few more knifes to go and I will get a veteran badge already. Thanks to everyone on this forum for all the help.

I got my knife award last night on Sharqi Peninsula, at the construction site.

Everyone sticks to close quarters there, and rarely watch their asses. If the enemy has the flag and your commander plops a UAV down for you on top, its really easy to sneak up on people who are aiming at the other side. Also, people leaving the construction site will often stop in the doorways and you can sprint up and knife them then. I was using a medic kit and dropping health all over the place just in case I had to run off.

First practice knifing to estimate the exact distance (try it on a server where the amount of players is not sufficient for the game to start)

Cheers,

if they are lying down, do the same and stick it in his head. if he stands stab while keeping him close, if you lose him spin while stabbing and rush him all the time. prone if he isnt trying to run and stab his bollocks. ive yet to be killed trying to knife someone.

Option 1: Knife/Pistol Servers
There are many knife/pistol servers out there for starters.  I earned the Veteran Knife Badge in one night, and the Veteran Pistol the next.  Just remember to play as the medic to heal yourself and charge like hell.  Once you have the timing down with the knife, it's a piece of cake.  Aim for the head with the pistol or you will empty a clip in someone with no success.  After some practice, you start to love using the knife/pistol over autos.  (Just be careful of jackasses who stat-pad by using autos on Knive/Pistol servers, especially if no admin is keeping things clean.)

Option 2:  For the Patient
Be patient and go "covert" while everyone else is charging head-first into the enemy.  This was actually fun and you will learn new skills on sneaking up on people.  Takes some time to get used to it, but it will teach you new tricks.  Find staircases or rooftops close to the enemy, or hidden positions next to enemy flags and wait.  Be ready to switch to auto if things go sour.  Stay hidden and wait for the enemy to pass, then move in for the kill.  Earned the Basic Knife Badge in this manner.

Option 3: For the Impatient
Play as a medic the entire map.  Try to sneak around flags and hide, waiting for people to spawn and hit the dirt, then dive on them.  Don't jab with the knife until you are on the ground and their body is right in front of you.  For the pistol, same idea, except stay standing (or crouch), move in close, and pop them in the back of the head (to be safe, put two or three in the head for insurance) , then turn and rabbit, waiting for the next victim.  Be careful if there is more than one, or you risk getting owned.   Earned the Basic Pistol this way.

The bottom line is to get the timing down.  If you must, work on Single Player to home in your skills.  You can also time bunnyhoppers/dolphin divers once you get the hang of it.
