i bought bf2 sf and tried to play online, wouldn't let me b/c it said i had to revert to the old version of bf2. so i unintalled everything, reinstalled bf2, didn't patch, then tried to install bf2 sf, as it was patching to 1.1 it failed. this happened the first time i installed and i don't know what to do now. it keeps failing. someone please help.

i just tried to patch to 1.21 instead, that failed also.
mmmm iv never hered of someone having probs while the sf install is patching.
maybe you could try cleaning your reistry of all bf2 files after un install. and make sure you delete all profiles and saved settings, that way it will be a TOTALLY fresh install.

ok i was trying to avoid deleting my profiles setting b/c they are a pain to reset. i guess i'll do it. btw, i did a reg clean, that didn't work.

did you get rid of all traces of bf2 from your registry?
if so and it failed id say you gona have to re download sf.

finally got it fixed. i had to manually remove the registry entrires for the game through regedit. then i reinstalled bf2 w/o patching, then installed bf2 sf, then patched. everything works great now.

Can you give me directions on how to do this. I picked up Bf2 : SF yesterday. I installed the game ( looked like it backwards patched itself to 1.1) so after the install i ran all updates and got bf2 to version 1.21
That night i only played regular bf as my friend hadnt got sf yet. but then today as i went to play it i kept getting an error that said. this server does not allow modified versions of the game please patch to the current bf2 patch ( or something very close to that) sounds like it was the same prob you had conaway. So please if you could tell me exactly how to delet these files from reg edit ( names would be helpful) thanks in advance!
