When me and my wife starting dating I explained my pagan views about religion. She was cool with it and leaned towards Buddism.( Spelling ) Flash forward eight years and she goes to church every Sunday. - I agreed to attend small group meetings on Tuesday nights.
I basically decided there was no harm to my feelings as I know who I am and what I believe.
I would rather go than be a negative influence on my children; a pied pipper leading them into my life of chaos, beer and internets.

I did not realize there was a void in my life. The...fellowship they bring is...touching. They accept me as I am, I explained that I am not a Christian, probably would ever be. I still get invited to the breakfasts every Tuesday.

The cast; and our status
Me ( atg ) in the beginning stages of foreclosure.

Tavis --recently re-employed after 8 month search. Solid, wife makes double what he does as a e.r. Nurse.

Scott --I.T. Guy, trying to get loan mod. His revenues are down forty percent. He leads our small group.

Mike--in foreclosure. He owns injection molding business and sells Monavie. He has 28k in monthly bills before food and diapers.

Robert--works for company that services gas station underground tanks. got loan mod and reduced interest rate. His wife is back to work after seven years at home.

Jerry--manages fast food chain. Foreclosure. Home bank owned, now renting. ( He chose not to pay twice what his condo is worth and walked.)

Steve--custom home builder in arizona. Foreclosed, bk, lost all savings, stocks and 401k. Ruined financially.

Lee--auto mechanic. Solid, owns his own shop and a rental property.

Rob--owns metal supply branch. In foreclosure on a rental house near Tahoe, no employees. Renting in san clemente.

Karen and Bob--the wifes best friend, karen worked in Fords engineering department, got laid off five days before christmas. Her husband is only getting 20 hours per week. They are solid for now as karen got 150k when her mom died of lung cancer last year.

Occasionally I shall update this story as another loses their house, or some spiritual epiphanny happens to hit me.

$28K in bills per month is ridiculous.

I agree, but that's what a million dollar house, a Harely Davidson, a RV, speed boat, suv and pool service costs. The numb fuck spend 120k on hardscape in his backyard.

Two years ago however, he was living the Merican Dream.

And sadly as it is this is only the start ... 2009 & 2010 will be very bad years for a huge amount of people before the tide turns ...

I guess they meet evert Tuesday to thank God for sending his one and only begotten Son to us, in the form of the President of the United States.

I never believed in the "Second Coming" story, guess I was wrong

Why so shocked? does the need for working cars diminish with the recession? Kinda like the medical field, people still get sick regardless as to how the economic pendulum is swinging.

Not sure I'd describe Bush that way, but if you say so.

Good for you ATG, religion can do a lot more for people than make them believe in life after death. Sometimes the fellowship and gathering of like minded people is good enough.

Also seeing everyone go bankrupt makes me glad I'm going into the medical field. Pay's not the best but job security is second to none.

All the mechanics I know have never been so busy. People here used to buy a 10 year old car for £600. Drive it for a year, scrap it and buy another. Now people are repairing and stretching out the life of the car using mechanics. Lost of ppl used to trade in their new car every 2 years or so. That's not happening either. Ppl are getting them serviced instead.

Stands to sense that when new car sales go down, mechanics get busier.

It's just the same in my company, after sales are busy as hell while the new car sales have plummeted and the employees in that part of the business are struggling with a decreasing bonus based salary ...

Also mechanics can defraud companies by making up warranties claims. You charge the company for whatever you want, customer never has to pay a thing, customer leaves happy because he received free service and free parts while getting his intentional job done. Company calls the customer later for a service opinion customer gives good rating, Car dealership gets bonus and other rewards and perks.

Everyone wins. Except the Giant corporations.
