Saudi warns US over Middle East

A senior member of Saudi Arabia's ruling family has warned the US that it needs to change attitudes over the Arab-Israeli conflict.
Prince Turki al-Faisal, a former Saudi intelligence chief and former ambassador to the US, said a failure to alter policies could threaten links.

The prince said ex-President George W Bush had left a "sickening legacy" in the Middle East.
He accused the US of contributing to the killing of Gazans.

Special envoy named
The prince made his comments in an interview with the London-based Financial Times newspaper, following a post-Christmas outbreak of violence between Israel and Palestinians that left more than 1,000 people - mostly Gazans - dead.
On Thursday Barack Obama made his first public statement on the Middle East as US president.
He named former senator George Mitchell as a special envoy to the Middle East.
Correspondents say President Obama's first statement did not significantly depart from earlier US policies.

Honestly, I hope a rift develops between us. It would be the final thing needed to get the American public to accept the idea of more domestic drilling.

If we cut our ties to Saudi Arabia, both sides of the political fence would start moving more towards energy independence, and we'd be less affected by whatever bullshit OPEC tries to pull.

So, here's to hoping Saudi Arabia goes away.

Eh... I wish it was that simple. I agree with you here on everything you said except for the last sentence. Saudi Arabia has plenty of money in its own right. Even if we stopped buying their oil, everyone else would take our place as consumers.

The point in time where Saudi Arabia will be screwed is when their oil runs out. By then, they'll be royally fucked (no pun intended) by a lack of any other resources.

Essentially, if it weren't for oil, Saudi Arabia would just be another shitty stretch of desert.

Contrary to popular belief, most of these terrorists/AQ etc.. hate America, not because of your freedom (lol wtf), but because of the unforgiving support for Israel and Saudi Arabia (aswell as having troops in various ME countries) etc.. - If the USA just said fuck you to the entire Middle East and walked out of there (which they could only do once they don't need Oil, which doesn't look like the case until it all runs out in the ME), there would be no problems.

All the "problems" the US have, are a result of their own actions.
