Maybe we could be enlightened with some information on body armor, such as the % dmg is reduces, its longevity, where it covers the body, ect.

Honestly, I don't know if the body armor makes enough of a difference to really matter.

If you see any body armor lying around don't pick it up... people put proximity mines on them.
lol.. body armour only covers the torso region - yes it makes a massive difference. See how many M16 rounds it takes to kill an Anti-Tank player and a Spec Ops player. It's about twice as many.. Certainly makes a difference for me.. Want your knife badge? Use Anti-Tank class and you'll survive the charge

lol fools. Assult, Support and Anti Tank have body armor and are penalized like %25 maximum sprint time. It even shows a little icon in the kit select screen.
The player models for those units with armor show Helmets too, so maybe there's some head protection.
