The images show the view from the Capitol, the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument and surrounding areas. See those things that look like ants? Yeah, those are people — millions of them.

The GeoEye-1 is also known by some as the “Google Satellite” because Google has the rights to use some of its images for its Google Earth and Google Maps products.

the guy in the picture is Gene Hackman from that movie enemy of the state, they use the satellite to zoom in on people and track them down.

here is some more info about the satellite its not a gov. satellite its Google's satellite called --> GeoEye-1, the powerful imagery satellite that is perhaps best known as the “Google satellite"."The satellite will be 423 miles above Washington, D.C. on January 20 at 11:19AM EDT. While it will be moving 17,000 miles per hour, it will still be able to look down at the Earth and see objects about a half meter in size."

The world is spherical, you can't see everything straight up and down from space. The satellite is always directly above something, but when it takes pictures of objects not directly below it, the buildings will look angled.
