A little reality break.  I remember somewhere seeing that the cost of raising one kid up to college age is around $250,000.

Quote from article:
Leeanne Ridley, a mom of three in Pembroke Pines, Fla., has a bad case of baby fever. But right now, fearing the worst in the current recession, her family is putting dreams for a fourth child on ice.

No offense here, but here in the US we are bitching about not having enough money for a FOURTH child?

So we lived of credit for a while...not so much now.  So how much of this economic adjustment is because people are suffering?  Or is they suffering because their concept of a shitty standard of living is only three kids, only two flat screen tvs, and forcing your kids to share the third car?

We truly need a reality break...

I agree that we have become spoiled and what we consider having to suffer because we are cutting back would be a very high standard of living for many others.  However, I wouldn't say she was bitching about it, and at least recognize that they didn't have the fourth child when they knew they may not be able to to afford it.

It wasn't that long ago that I wanted to strangle a couple I saw at the grocery store.  They were there with their 3 kids, and she was preggo.  I watched as they paid for their food with food stamps.  I mean seriously, you have to use food stamps to pay for food as it is, and you got your wife knocked up again!?

Then it really pissed me off when I happened to follow this same couple to the convenience store just down the road and he goes into the store and buys a case of beer...paying cash naturally.

If I had three kids and a kid on the way AND was paying for the food with food stamps...I would stop at the store and buy a case of beer too...fetal alcohol syndrome be damned!!!

lol... i know what you are talking about...it's like seeing dumpy, trashy "mobile homes"(trailers) with a sweet ride parked out front.  People who have their priorities totally mixed up.  My assumption is that they are leasing that nice vehicle and will have it towed away as soon as the leasing company figures out what low income apartment complex they live in this month.

I saw an interview with various Americans about the financial crises.
One truck driver said 'Its really hit hard, we can't go to the mall every day any more, we can only go at the weekends now.'
Americans live in their own little bubble.

Thats a nice transition. One dumbass truck driver=americans living in their own bubble. Do you people read the shit that you type to yourself? Cuz you should. We all wonder where the hostility and tension comes from, then some guy with a dick in his arse has to get a bash in at every opportunity. Give it up already.

Ya know, it still amazes me that you can still hear something like that and believe its a accurate representation of the entire country, just as bad as lowing.

I saw a young Spanish girl at the store on the way home tonight... she pulled out a food stamp check for her food... and i felt bad for a second... then, after i paid... i walked outside and saw her getting in a Ford Excursion with big rims and tires... I went from sad to mad... This Sh*t needs to stop...
and it's not just spanish folks...  People riding the system need to be dropped... so that people that really need it get it...
And if you can't afford a kid... don't have one... If you do want one...be prepared to do whatever is needed to give the innocent kid a chance...

More than just one truck driver, as a nation supposedly suffering from finacial ruin, we are stampeding stores for TV's and not food.

We Americans, are spoiled rotten to the core. Our brand of suffering, in other parts of the world, people should get so lucky.

As mentioned many times, we are a nation of entitlement. If yo do not see this, then you are the one in a bubble.
