We all can't be in the 95th percentile of English wittery can we.  I bet you take the tickle I.Q. test as a self affirmation everyday cuz u r so full of smarticles u r proud uh urself and read on something ur 95% smarter.

btw:  everyone scores in the top 95% of some group on something but only the bottom 2% are dumb enough to let it go to their head a spout about it as proof of greatness.  so warm hugs to you.
Lulz, I said it as an example to prove ignorant tools(such as yourself) that seem to think anyway that occasionally smokes the drug has an IQ of 50 and can't function. Ironic how me, a person that smokes the on a weekly basis, give or take, can be more intelligent than yourself. Now the area in which you grew up in may well be a breeding ground for ignoramuses who think teh muslims are bad, teh drugs are teh bad and you're at war with the commies still cause they're evil, but come on. Actually think about what you are arguing once in a while.
Congrats on your weekly drug habit and enlightened world view!  I am sure you are a very smart person and I will rethink my position on legalising pot now that I know you are in the 95th percentile of English people despite a drug habit.

Oh and surprisingly I drink Scotch but am not an Alchaholic, have good teeth, am not Irish, and don't beat my wife.  Despite this I realise it does fuck up many people and cause lots of problems.  Knowing this I don't think we need more mind altering substances legalised when we already have one screwing up people.  Especially one that is easy.  Easy and quick to use like a cig and doesn't give you hang overs.  Easy to abuse.  Easy for someone in the 95th percentile of English wittery to abuse even though it is outlawed.
It's hardly a habit I've smoked it for over 3 years and had a 7 month break in the middle cause it wasn't the time to be getting high. I am now going to start another break for the next 2 months for a career, and it will be easy. I have no mental or chemical addiction, it's not a habit, it's a hobby, lulz.

I think Scotch should be banned, it is too strong and can cause too much fun on a night out. Ban ban ban

The only dedicated study ever conducted into the link between smoking weed and cancer (the Tashkin study) showed a negative correlation between smoking weed and getting cancer. Not significantly negative enough that you could claim smoking weed reduces your chances of getting cancer, but still compelling evidence that it doesn't actually cause cancer.

There have been other non-dedicated studies, which have been byproducts of other research which have presented the possibility that smoking weed causes cancer - such as a study related to pregnancy which showed cannabis has genetically mutative qualities which could potentially cause cancer.

At present the only solid study shows the opposite of what you claim.

Yerded once said that users are losers right here on this forum.  I guess it kinda stuck with me.

I'm sure you are right about pot, being you're in the 95th percentile the the finest wittery England has to offer and all.  I just wonder why more countries don't listen to super duper smart pot heads like you and legalise the stuff.  I guess they just aren't thinking clearly.

Mmm trolltacular.

You might put absolute 100% faith into your Government and trust that everything they do is right and never question a decision. That's fine. God bless America and the gospel of the constitution, etc. Countries are starting to lean towards legalization now that they are modernising. Once upon a time Black people weren't allowed on the same buses as you, I guess had you been around then you'd have no problem with it. As it is law and shall not be questioned!

100% patriot, good job.

The medical council that advises the government in the UK has called for the legalisation of cannabis. The government didn't like their recommendations, so they ignored them.

Acid is not habit forming and would be funner for recreational uses like you mention.  Maybe perscription pain killers and Cocaine when partying hard on the weekend.

I am sure there are lots of nice people that can see no better way to relax than to go through the trouble of buying, keeping, and using an illegal substance.  Hell, it has to be worth the risk of going to jail, because some people in the 95th percentile on smartiness feel it is worth the risk rather than just doing something else.

Your pot head mind tricks have no effect on me, I am Oregonian.

Actually Police have bigger things to worry about than me smoking weed in my own house. There's as much chance me going to jail for having Weed in my own house than there is the FBI knocking on your door and removing your internet access for grossly embarrassing your country. I hope you are not the sole representative from the USA anywhere else, cause you'd sure be running some shit PR.

get back on topic;
the legalization of marijuana in the united states.

lotta, if you cant contribute anything beyond poorly veiled personal attacks, then you need to stay out of this thread.

I just think its ridiculous that the United States government is wasting time and money trying to supress something that will never be supressed.

$30 Billion a year spent trying to police marijuana =  $30 Billion

$50 Billion a year brought in on marijuana taxes (if legalized) =  $50 Billion

Total = $80 Billion Dollars the US Government now has available for something else.

15% of the judicial court systems will now be free'd up as marijuana no longer results in prosecution.

Not to mention the government would be taking away $$ from drug smugglers(murderers) and people who are actually dangerous and shouldn't be funded by the very citizens the government is trying to protect.

The Government is supposed to be BY the people FOR the people.

Most of the people in this country support the decriminalization at the very least.  Its back up by studies and supported by the medical field.  Its wasting large sums of taxpayer money which could be spent otherwise.

Its time for people to wake up and see things for what they are instead of what they are told.  Then maybe things will change.

All I've seen from the OP is facts and figures he may not necessarily believe in for a cause that benefits him. Do you really give a fuck about the medicinal purposes of marijuana? I doubt it.

I do care.  Deeply in fact.  Otherwise I wouldn't have spent the time to post 10 times in 2 different forums regarding the subject.

Whats hemp like as a source of biofuels?  More domestically-produced biofuel = less reliance on unstabe (read: middle-eastern) supplies.

As to whether medicinal/recreational mj use should be legal...absolutely. Tax the ever-loving shit out of it, too.
I disagree with the taxing it though.  Its a plant, we shouldnt get taxed from growing something in our backyard.  Unless you like giving the ever-loving shit out of your money to the government.
So you overlook the fact that it's already legal for non-smoking uses (and legal for medicinal uses in most states)?

So your argument isn't the massive benefit to society that is the hemp plant. Your beef is that you can't toke it up legally. So argue that--don't use a smokescreen (no pun intended), talking all altruistic about how wonderful weed is for applications other than getting high.

And if you're going to legalize it, it must be regulated (just like alcohol). That means no growing a forest of your own Jamaican munchie-inducer in your backyard...just like you can't have a still in your backyard, either.

I have my facts pretty straight.

1.  No, its not already legal fo non-smoking uses.
2.  Its not legal for medicinal uses in most states because the last time I checked there were 52 states and only 14+- allow medicinal marijuana (Including mine).

My argument is simple:  Marijuana should be significantly decriminalized or legalized for many different reasons.

1. Yes, it is. Otherwise, we wouldn't have all those non-smoking uses for hemp, now would we?
    - Clarification: it is legal to possess products made from hemp...only two US states are attempting to legally grow industrial hemp (which has very low THC levels)
2. There aren't 52 states. And I apologize...I wrote "most" when I meant "many". My bad.

There are cannabis-derived drugs available for prescription. Why not just use those if you need the benefit? They're legal.

So...how would you feel about industrial hemp growing/harvesting and medicinal mj being legal and recreational hemp (THC-heavy cannabis) be illegal? Would you be OK with that arrangement? All the positive aspects of hemp that you extol and none of the negatives related to drug use.

BTW, I have no issue with mj being legalized, so long as it is regulated.

Can't you?

You can over here....
Why wouldn't you be able to grow it at home? Why can't you have a still at home? Is that actually illegal in the US (the still part, I mean)?

Of course my neighbours do have a forest of it in their garden anyway.

Technically, you have to have a permit for a still in this country.  It depends on the laws of the state you're in though.

I'll put it this way...  I know a number of bootleggers in my state that probably don't have permits.
