I have been more right about more things than more people, with more conviction than most on this site.
I am also glib and clever.
I don't particularly care if people smoke dope, I've seen it screw people up, friends of mine have said the same of people they know.
It would be interesting to see how it worked out if it were legalised, I won't be using it however.

How has Pot ever screw'd people up?
It's just that those people's whose lives got screwed up by pot aren't man or woman enough to take the responsibility them self..
I've blown so much money on booze and done lots of stupid shit when I was drunk, but it was my fault for getting so drunk and being an ass.

Our criminal justice system is better used to track down real criminals instead of processing people for possession of weed. Hauling in Joe for having a small amount on him when he gets pulled over for a traffic offense is rather pointless imo.
In the words of Katt Williams: "Weed is just a plant. It just grows like that. And if you happen to set it on fire, there are some effects".
The fear is though that if you legalise marijuana then the uses go on to the other harder drugs.
Whether or not that is likely is debatable, I don't think you would go for other drugs if you had a legal one to choose from anyway and that it would likely reduce other drugs popularity.
But your always going to have ecstasy and now the worse drug ICE that is the really dangerous stuff which the authorities should be focusing on.

Meth is pretty bad here.TheAussieReaper wrote:

Oh, and sorry that I deleted my post, but at first, I thought Dilbert was suggesting it shouldn't be legalized. When I realized that he wasn't arguing that, I deleted it.

lol makes sense.
Meth is bad here, but difficult to get a hold of. The party drugs are definitely the most common. And as soon as ice became available the users wound up in hospitals with a range of problems.
What I can't understand is why you would take pills from a dealer when they have most likely been cooked up in a bikers gang bath tub mixed with god knows what.
If they were legal and over the counter the risk of the drugs being mixed with chalk dust (and god knows what else) is lessened too I suppose.

That notion (although i reckognise you are not saying it) is a farceTheAussieReaper wrote:

It should only be legal for black people that play bass guitar in a rock band.
I don't think it should be, but I can see some plus sides to legalisation, and downsides.Turquoise wrote:

It would be an interesting experiment to try it in the US and see what happens.
In South Australia it is effectively decriminalised - in small quantities and for personal use.
Doesn't seem to make any difference to the number of people on meth, heroin, gang crime etc so can't see the point really.
OTOH the number of people who drive smack into trees, power poles etc is incredible, and I'd say IQs are on average 10 points below most other places in the world, but could be my imagination.

I think that's bullshit. Anyone who's smoked weed before knows that you don't need to use harder drugs, you just need to buy some better weed.TheAussieReaper wrote:

As an avid fan of the shit, Ill say that if I get ripped the night before I will function normally the next day. If I get hammered the night before I won't function as normal. (Night before anything).
And FFS take a drag for a cigarette and then a hit of weed and tell me what you think kills.
Never have I once been tempted to go and try something else. Its the people that look for that "Escape" and don't find weed enough that move on, has nothing to do with the pot, nothing.
The bottom line is that if your going to have Alcohol and Cigarettes legal then Weed fits right in as the safest option tbh. Shit you don't puke and go to the hospital when you get too high, you pass out.

When I was hardcore rock climbing we used to bongout right before we roped up to climb 5.12 routes.
5.12 is really complex climbing btw.

Here's the thing, you'd be surprised to find out how many people smoke that you would never guess. I used to smoke until now I have a family (only quit because a steady job is necessary and won't risk losing it to a failed drug test) and even I was surprised at some of the people I discoved smoked.Dilbert_X wrote:

Just relating my experience of seeing people I know use it and wind up at the bottom of the social pile, when they did a good deal better at school than I did.
I guess if people are using they don't notice the changes in others as they are also happening to them.
There are definitely downsides to using pot, but keeping it illegal is no more effective than Prohibition was or how a tobacco ban would be.Dilbert_X wrote:

The government has no right to tell me I can't roll up a doobie.
Besides, legalizing it and taxing it would accumulate money that could be used to pay for the costs that abuse already bring society. By banning it and not taxing it, it only sucks money away from the system and wastes law enforcement resources.
Yes they do, if you don't like it elect a different govt, if the majority of your fellow citizens decide you're wrong and vote the other way hard luck.Turquoise wrote:

Probably, its the heavy users (mostly) who screw themselves up - permanently it seems.jaymz9350 wrote:

The government has no logical reason to tell me I can't smoke a doobie.
Thats more reasonable, and something to argue about, and not a licence to break the law.Turquoise wrote:

It doesn't effect anyone else but the smoker, there is no reason not to smoke it. If you want to start treat pointless laws as gospel that's up to you, I won't be murdering anyone anytime soon, bit I sure will be relaxing with something that effect nobody but myself.Dilbert_X wrote:
