Ok, does the firewall on this router actually disrupts adsl connections? I receive at least one random connection everyday and its veery irritating. So can someone who uses ADSL tell me how to configure this router?
just put the ports for the game into the firewall if its turned on....
Guys do i need to reset my router? I was using cable last time and changed to ADSL now
Well there are a few things you can do just to make certain your Linksys is working properly.
1. Reset the modem to default.
2. From the Linksys site there in the support section there is actually a Flash update for the router. Download it and run it according to the instructions. It will update the bios on the router itself.

That's the super geek lover router from heaven, if I'm not mistaken...
It's a small Linux computer in a box... very managable and can do just about everything you ask of it.
If I read your post right you switched from cable to aDSL without changing anything on your router? If you're running any type of DSL you should have logged into your router and changed how it connects. Cable uses DHCP, and DSL (USUALLY) uses PPPoE. Once setup you can then avoid running whatever garbage connection software they provided you. I've found the SBC one is very flaky... and I found (the hard way) that some DSL providers want your router on DHCP so YMMV. It all depends on your provider. Some of the newer setups come with a 2wire modem and wireless router in one. It's hard to say without you posting all the details:
provder
hardware included
connection software (yes or no)?

i have this router.... tho i have cable.
its without doubt the oddest creature ive ever seen. all manner of forums and wiki's flag it as odd. its not that its bad, far from it... but its just odd. eg, when im using azureus, i spent AGES trying to configure the damned thing... turns out it cant cope with up and down / udp/tcp stream on the same port.
if u just got it, u will prob have v.5, which, by my reading, has a lower onboard memory than the previous 4 versions. i too have v5, and was most displeased when i found this out.
make sure u UPDATE THE FIRMWARE asap!!
go to linksys webbie, download the file, then use the routerconfig to update [link to the downloaded file].
thats should help u some.
by the way, DONT use the provided software if u can avoid it.. its shite and balls and shite, it crashed my pc a number of times.
use the router under UPnP only, and config thru internet explorer.
