System Specs:
ASUS P5Q PRO
Corsair XMS2 4GB 800Mhz RAM
XFX 9800GT 512MB
OCZ PSU 600W
E8400 STOCK CLOCKS
I'm using the latest NVIDIA drivers available for my card, 180.48, and I'm Windows XP 32 BIT. I purchased CoD4 on DVD.
Basically, in singleplayer or multiplayer (doesn't matter), I can get a good 5-10 seconds of play time, and then CoD4 freezes and task manager reports that it stops responding. I can kill the process (iw3sp.exe & iw3mp.exe) and it will restore my desktop.
It's fucking annoying. I'm using the latest RealTek sound driver, and have updated my BIOS to the latest release, in effort to fix it. I've tried with only stick of RAM in, doesn't seem to matter.
Any solutions? I'm at a total loss, I've been trying to solve this problem since the beginning of the week, even rebuilt windows in effort to fix, no luck.
Am I just fucked with this card or what? It plays BF2 fine, seems to be CoD4.
+I installed and played the game successfully on my old system, which has an X1300 ATI card, an E6600 and a Dell motherboard and it ran perfectly with no flaws, but on low graphics at ~30FPS, due to the limitations of the card.
