4870 512mb vs 4870 1Gb = the same performance unless you are gaming in >1920x1200 or playing the few games that require tons of memory, e.g. crysis.FFLink13 wrote:
It's only 512MB, though... What does it compare to a standard 4870 1GB?

Yeah but you can't buy Palit in Europe.. Actually I have never even seen a picture or heard of palit cards since yesterday where you mentioned them in a thread..Little BaBy JESUS wrote:
I just read an article on tomshardware about Palit Sonic vs Sapphire Toxic vs Reference.
Palit cools slightly better (7c less) than the Toxic but is louder.. and both are over 35c cooler than reference cooler.
Benchmarks show the Palit and Sapphire card pretty even. for every benchmark the palit wins the sapphire wins one. howeverr both card beat reference although only by a few frames in each test.
EDIT: tomshardware concludes Palit is the winner because its the coolest, best performing and least expensive.

Have you done any volt mods? I hear it's pretty easy with the 48X0 cards, and your monstrosity that you call a cooler shouldn't have any problem handling the extra heat.haffeysucks wrote:

the new CCC works pretty well. I see no reason for riva tuner unless you're going to push above the CCC limits which are anyhow above what you can reach usually. No volt mods yetCrazeD wrote:

And you get way moar clocksiz.
EDIT: Oh, and don't overclock with that disgusting CCC. Use Rivatuner.

Well if 850/1100 is the max (appears to be on your SS), that is hardly unreachable.max wrote:
