What's going to come with the new rank? You just going to get it so you can always be Commander and look 1337?
actually and im not to sure but think i saw a new clip this past year where china was doing a huge military build up towards taiwan and said of the US attacks they well nuke us.. but that was prolly some stupid pissed off EQ player in china or our own media trying to make a buck..
either way china is still communist with Korea.. the new epxansion should have more ranks and countries if i read correct as well.. so look for germnay and france and britian to be included, that would rock..
but then again im dreaming.. kill ya online laters all

Those are the US army CO ranks. It looks like they intend to add the CO ranks due to the inclusion of 2nd Lieutenant. Before they just had NCO (Non-Commissioned Officer) ranks.
LOL
The game takes place in a fictional future. This is why the Middle Eastern Coalition exists. Several Middle Eastern countries formed an official alliance and become a Coalition. They apparently threaten the peace of all the countries around the Middle East.r00fus wrote:

Then with the PLA (Chinese) they are the last political threat that could take on the US military via conventional weapons. They are also quickly becoming a superpower in the terms of economy. I wouldn't be surprised if their economy becomes much more stable in the near future and their own currency becomes a monetary unit on the Far East Stock exchange on an official basis. They are already exchanging their US/Euro money reserves for other units like the Yen and physcial wealth like Gold/Platinum and other precious metals.
At any rate, the game is set in the future. Both of these "Enemy Nations" are the most logical threat given in certain senerios in real life. Hence they put them in the game. Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction.

I posted something close to this in a different category. Guess I should have posted it here.<eN>Madcat wrote:
Sergeant Major of the Corps
Requirements:
Rank: Master Sergeant
Score: 250000
Awards: Basic Knife Combat Badge, Basic Pistol Combat Badge, Basic Assault Combat Badge, Basic Anti-tank Combat Badge, Basic Sniper Combat Badge, Basic Spec Ops Combat Badge, Basic Support Combat Badge, Basic Engineer Combat Badge, Basic Medic Combat Badge, Basic Armor Badge, Basic Transport Badge, Basic Helicopter Badge, Basic Aviator Badge, Basic Air Defense Badge, Basic Ground Defense Badge,
Notes: Only awarded to one player at a time.
2nd Lieutenant
Requirements:
Rank: Master Gunnery Sergeant
Score: 200000
So Srg. Major of Corps is 250 000 score plus badges, and 2nd leiutant is 200 000 and thats it???
Something even more strange is this.
You need 200k in points and you need to be Master Gunnery Sergeant to make 2nd LT.
You need 250k in points and you need to be Master Sergeant to make Sergeant Major of the Corps.
Now how does one get to 250k in points without becoming a 2nd LT at 200k since the requirement is to be a rank that you get at 50k? Or I'm sure you can still get it as Master Gunnery Segeant also. Still thought, you are going to be promoted to an officer and then get demoted to an enlisted?
Yea none of this makes sense.

I hope that if they add officer ranks then they add something to make them worthwhile getting, like new guns or kits
New unlocks (probably whole new categories of unlocks) are likely with the officer ranks.
The reason we could war with China... a) capitalism vs. communism, and b) Taiwan. B should really be A. China's stand: Taiwan is part of China. Taiwan's stand: Taiwan is independant. Our stand: we try not to make one... and do our best to keep Taiwan from being too agressive in their proclamations, because we are apparently under treaty to protect them... so we're in a precarious position. It is also why there is such a great focus to keep our military a "two theater force". The theory is that if we did not have that capability, and we were embroiled in a major war in one theater, China would jump on the chance to take Taiwan. If we maintain the ability to effectively prosecute two major wars in two theaters, we can go to war, and keep the back door covered, so to speak.
As for the high end of the ranks... "Commandant" is a position, not a rank. "General" is the rank... there is no 5-star rank for Marines (probably because the Marines are a part of the Department of the Navy, so would fall under the 5-star "Fleet Admiral"). Of course... Commandant is the only 4-star General billet in the Marine Corp, so if you've got 4-stars, you're the Commandant (or perhaps retired).
I'm not sure that the requirement for SgtMajMC is purely score. The inclusion of this rank leads me to believe that it's something far more special... and there will be only one. Of course, if they do that, I would imagine they would do the same for General. Now... SgtMajMC is both a rank and a position.
Also, before they had only enlisted ranks, not only NCO ranks. NCO doesn't start until E-5 (E-4 for Navy). Of course... it seems kind of odd, given that, that Staff NCO begins one paygrade higher at E-6. The Navy seems much more logical, with E-1 to E-3 being plain enlisted (Airmen, Seamen, Firemen, etc), E-4 to E-6 being NCOs (called Petty Officers), and E-7 to E-9 being SNCOs (Cheifs). It's also fun that in the Navy you always know what someone's job it, if you see their name on paper. "AT1 (AW) Smith" would be a guy named Smith who is an E-6 (Petty Officer 1st Class), an AT (Avionics Technician), and has the Air Warfare qualification (wings similar to the dolphines submariners wear... "Submarine Warfare"). All enlisted ranks have their "rating" shown in their rank ensignia (unless you're a cheif in Khakis, in which case you're wearing anchors on your lapels and your cover).

Well consider that 2nd Lt. is the lowest CO and Sgt. Maj. of the Corps is one of the top guys in the Marines. Although generally officers are above enlisted, there is some overlap.kilroy0097 wrote:
