'But a panel of economists surveyed by msnbc.com says that — maybe, if all goes well — we could be closer to the end of this recession than the beginning. Now 12 months into a downturn that appears to be deepening, there are early signs that the elements may be coming into place for a convincing recovery. That “best case” forecast calls for the worst of the downturn easing by the middle of next year, with slow but steady growth in the second half of 2009'

Its hard to believe right now, could it happen?

my degreeless opinion says that the stocks are going to take a fat shit right after the holidays due to shitty holiday sales, resulting in production cuts because of to much inventory which add more jobless rates.

the automakers got bailed out, only for the guzzling camaro to see the light of day.

i dont think anythings going to get better that soon - wait until that money is sucked dry on pensions, and they need more.

No doubt these are the same sort of people who called the dow's bottom several thousand points ago.  Once you understand there rational in giving you optimism its easy to see there all a bunch of fuckin snakes.  It's simply to get you to invest, so they can gtfo.

That is not to say, that the markets wont recover, atleast eventually but the correction that has to take place is going to be longer than there saying.  Unless we get some sort of event that sends everything into high gear.  A war (a proper one!) would save the manufacturing industry right about now.

I think this applies to more than just MSNBC.

Thats interesting, and good news, especially for those of us in construction (albeit, an office ). Its nice to hear some good news for once, even if it might be exaggerated. The same old news is just getting on my nerves now, and obviously makes you wonder if you will remain employed.

What I find odd, is that our company's outlook for next year is better than it has been for the past 4 years by ~25% (that's secured contracts and hours to work). I just hope the second half works out.
