So the people who don't text are the ones with nobody to text. Gotcha.
i probably go through 50-100 a day counting both incoming and outgoing messages. 6,000 a month is pretty excessive.
still, there's nothing wrong with texting. for everyone saying "just call them", it's not really worth it when you only have a simple question to ask.

You ask 50-100 quick questions a day?aj0404 wrote:

I have nothing against texting. It is practical and convenient. It is also massively overused in a ridiculous way. 50-100 texts a day is clearly excessive. Some of those texts must be back and forth text conversations and in that case, "just call them".
First nail in the coffin of the art of conversation.
for uninformed people here, incoming texts count towards the 6,000, so she sends (around) 3,000, not 6,000
edit: which is 100 texts a day, which is not much at all

Do you have 6000 simple questions to ask? You wouldn't call to ask "What's up?" because it's a waste of time. What that other person is doing really isn't that important to you so you wouldn't call, but it's ok to bother them with a text message.aj0404 wrote:

Here's what gets me: If she is so interested in having these little chats with friends, what the fuck is she doing that gives her this time? Absolutely nothing. She could be with said friends, hanging out and what not. If you're sending a message every 5 minutes, consistently, all hours of the waking day, that takes up a shit ton of time and detracts it from everything else.
She's texting so much because she has nothing better to do. It's pathetic.

I've had my phone for a year and a half now, and i've had to top up 4 times (£20). Whats the point of texting, when i can use MSN/email friends for free?
texting rocks and i text a lot but 6000 a month is nothing im sure mad people top that but for some reason someone made a news article about it. I have unlimited texting. She needs to do the same.
for 70 a month AU i get unlimited txting, 350 in calls, 250 mb of net, and 16 gb iphone + insurance.
this story doesnt surprise me at all. when you try and talk to a teen its like speaking to a retard. they have very little social skills and cant speak for shit.
You have to pay to receive texts? That's just crazy.ceslayer23 wrote:

now you are getting my point. cell phones are good. matter of fact they are replacing land lines. but for a lot of people they have taken human interaction away. and it shows..Sup wrote:

She sends 260 texts/day. That's ~14.5 a month, when split over 18 months. That's roughly one every other day. Which I would consider fairly normal, on the low side of normal, but normal nonetheless.
i thought it said per month...
